Thursday Thoughts

Two things can destroy any relationship. Unrealistic expectations and poor communication” Unknown

Do people misunderstand you routinely?

I am not talking about the misunderstanding happening from the messages being sent to each other.

I am talking about the misunderstanding arising during the discussion among friends, relatives, colleagues, superiors and even family members.

If so, you are not alone, my friend.

There are millions of people like me who are unable to express themselves properly to others resulting lack of clarity and misunderstanding.

What is the exact problem?

It’s known as the communication gap.

A communication gap happens when the meaning intended by the speaker is not what is understood by the receiver.

Normally the information exchanged between people as they talk to each other is supposed to result in the desired effect. But with a communication gap, the desired action is absent.

There are many reasons for this communication gap hence I am not going into detail.

Who is at fault?

My guess is, the speaker must take the blame.

How to prevent the communication gap?

There is just one and the only solution.

“Explain, explain, explain.

You may think others understand what you mean,

But misunderstandings arise every day for lack of clarity.

If you are not sure whether someone understands what you mean, ask them”

Thursday Thoughts

Are you content with your present life my friend?

Am I stupid to ask this question?

I know there is so much going on in your mind at this moment about so many things that happened or happening in your life.

I also know that the net result most of the time is a disappointment.

This is because you always feel that something is lacking in your life.

Sometimes you feel like prioritizing things but helplessly you are attracted to different priorities and on many occasions, you landed in a mess.

What is the definition of contented life?

Merriam Webster defines contented life as

‘Feeling or showing satisfaction with one’s possessions, status or situations’

Whatever may be in your possession- you are not happy.

Whatever may be your status- you are not happy

Whatever may be the situation- you are not happy.

How to be content?

A million-dollar question.

The simple answer is ‘You can’t be content!

I know, you are surprised.

Yes, my friend, your face is telling the truth. I can see your expression!

In reality, nobody can satisfy anybody.

One can satisfy by only oneself, which is again next to impossibility.

Why disappointment is so strong in you?

This is because

“Disappointment hurts more than pain” American Proverb

Some said all this is happening because of the 3 Cs

In today’s consumerism-driven world, we often become obsessed with owning the newest gadgets, brands, and fashion. Material wealth and social status are false paths to happiness.” Jay D’Cee

“Life is not a competition. Life is about helping and inspiring others so we can each reach our Potential” Kim Chase

“Comparison is the fastest way to feel unhappy” Unknown

Apart from this whether you are rich, poor or come under the middle-income bracket… it means nothing to you, since you are always trying to elevate further and in the process getting disappointed since nothing happens according to your wishes.

There is always somebody leading a better life than you.

This mentality is the problem with you, my friend.

What are my suggestions?

There is no rule that you should follow.

  • Accept yourself
  • Accept your limitations
  • Accept your strength and weakness
  • Stop comparing
  • Start loving yourself
  • Your mistakes allow you to learn
  • Take care of your mind and body health
  • Express gratitude for what you have
  • Do what you love and love what you do
  • Since relations & friendships directly impact your life, stay committed

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you for visiting my site and taking your time to read.

Take care, my friend.

Thursday Thoughts

What is gossip?

Gossip is nothing but idle talk.

People enjoy gossiping about the personal or private affairs of others.

If anybody tells you that they don’t indulge in gossiping, my friend, remember that they are lying.

Everybody loves gossiping including you and me and the rest.

And never one talks openly that one likes to gossip.

My friend, the fact is that you gossip without your knowledge 99.99%

Sadly Gossip is one way of spreading rumours.

Why do people Gossip?

My friend, there can be so many reasons.

The common reasons include jealousy, need for revenge, attention-grabbing (when you know a secret of a person and you want to break the news first).

Sometimes you may gossip out of boredom. Sounds strange? Yes. It can happen!

The majority of the time people indulge in gossiping because they have nothing great happening in their personal lives and love poking into others affairs.

Is gossiping a sort of sickness?

Yes, my friend.

You can call it human sickness.

Can the world be free of ‘Gossiping’?

There is no chance for this to happen.

None immune from gossiping.

We all deserve each other.

“Before you spread rumours about me, let me fill you in on what I heard about you” Unknown

Does it mean that ‘Gossip’ is here to stay?

Gossip can have a natural death if only…

“Gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears” Unknown

Thank you.

When everything looks unusual around you, your eyes and your mind mostly need anything usual! Unfamiliar disturbs us; familiar comforts us! But for the wise man, unusual is more precious than the usual because it offers us a new way, a new vision, a new idea, a new world!

“Despite your best efforts, not everyone wants to be helped. Make a difference where you can and be at peace with the rest” Gary Hopkin

What exactly is the author of the above quote trying to tell us?

I request you to make me understand better.

Why do some people refuse the much-needed help?

Is this because of pride?

Maybe the person providing the help may not be to their liking?

Maybe they don’t wish to be a nuisance?

And being stubborn?

And there may be many more reasons.

One can never know.

When you try to help the needy and if the needy refuses your help do you feel bad?

What are your thoughts?

Or do you think, they feel that you are fishing in the troubled water though your intentions are good?

How to explain this psychology?

Is this anything to do with mindset?

The following quote gives a different explanation

Maybe it’s correct?

“People seldom refuse help, if one offers it in the right way” A C Benson.

What are your thoughts, my friend?

Thank you.

Thursday Thoughts

Himalayas are unique

“There is something about the Himalayas not possessed by the Alps, something unseen and unknown, a charm that pervades every hour spent among them, a mystery intriguing and disturbing. Confronted by them, a man loses his grasp of ordinary things, perceiving himself as immortal, an entity capable of outdistancing all changes, all decay, all life, all death”  Frank Smythe

“There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading to the same place, so it doesn’t matter which path you take. The only person wasting time is the one who runs around the mountain, telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.”  Hindu proverb

“Motherhood is the great mesh in which all human relations are entangled, in which lurk our most elemental assumptions about love and power”  Adrienne Rich

I am unable to follow this quote.

Is this good or bad?

Can Love and Power go together?

Ours is an entangled life?

Somebody controlling somebody?

What are your thoughts on Adrienne Rich’s quote?

Thank you.

“Life is way too short to spend another day at war with yourself” Unknown

My dear friend,  don’t be at war yourself at the end of the day.

It’s nothing but an internal blame game.
