I’ll clean up

Cleaning up

Being clean or cleaning up a thing is said to be important in our day to day practice, and keeping the environment clean prevents many of the diseases related to unhygienic practices of humans.

But somebody said “Cleanliness is next to impossible’  unknown

Is it so?

If you think deeply, it’s not possible to clean up the mess we create every day?

What about the things in real life?

Is cleaning up limited to external appearances?

What about our mind, which none can read!

And our minds are polluted right from adolescence.

Is it possible to clean up our polluted minds?

Can a clean up mind be equal to a clean earth?

Or do you think environmental pollution is polluting our minds?

Why our minds are polluted?

I feel our minds are polluted because of greed, lust, jealousy, negative thoughts, hatred, criticism, judgment, anxiety, resentment….the list is too long. And ‘Ego’ adds to the filth.

As humans, we are not able to satisfy ourselves because of our polluted minds.

Is it possible to clean up our polluted mind just like we clean up our body of dirt?

I don’t know.

“Everything is based on mind, is led by mind, is fashioned by mind.

If you speak and act with a polluted mind, suffering will follow you, as the wheels of the oxcart follow the footsteps of the ox.

Everything is based on the mind, is led by the mind, is fashioned by the mind.

If you speak and act with a pure mind, happiness will follow you, as shadow clings to a form”

I remember John Milton’s quote about the power of the mind.

“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven”

Please realise, you can’t challenge your mind and if you make a sincere efforts, remember not to whine!

Thank you.

Peel Up

“People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them”   Veronica Roth

I am not sure about the correctness of usage of the word, ‘Peel Up’ regarding this photo.

I may be wrong. You can correct me.

I thought the meaning could be …it’s time to peel up the original paint and go for a fresh one.

And how many layers human being has?

No no I am not talking of anatomy.

I don’t really know how many layers one wears but I am aware of people eager to unravel the layers of others.

“People love scandal; people love drama. They love stripping away the layers to see what’s really in there, and they’ll do anything – as well as make it up – to get it”  Julia Roberts

Thank you.

Lens Artists Challenge # 124: Now and Then

This post is part of Amy’s    LAPC # 124 Now and Then

This challenge reminded me of the ways, Corona Pandemic has changed our lives.

How is life now,  which is said to be ‘New Norm’ and how was life then…which we all took for granted.

Starting from April 2020 to October 2020, this pavement had a deserted look.

And two windows are open.

Storm sewer cover is missing.

“There’s just something obvious about emptiness, even when you try to convince yourself otherwise. ” Sarah Dessen

Now see the present status. You can notice an eatery pushcart and the seller busy with the customers.

And the windows are closed.

Storm sewer cover is replaced.

“Life is like walking along a crowded street–there always seem to be fewer obstacles to getting along on the opposite pavement–and yet, if one crosses over, matters are rarely mended”    Thomas Huxley

We notice the following obvious changes  (Then & Now)

1.wishing– No hugging or handshaking, people missing the warm hug.Just Namaste- Indian style.

2.Face Mask- since people started wearing face masks, one has forgotten how a smiling face looks!

3. Washing hands. Earlier none cared to wash hands Now this has become a habit and in some, this became an obsessive-compulsive disorder.

4.  Streets-  No more Eerie feeling! The streets and pavements showing some return back of life though not in full strength.

5.Mindfulness & Stress relief– Mental and emotional well being gained much more importance.

6.Physical distancing– People have become aware of the physical distance in public places.

Can we go back to normal?

I doubt.

The changes are here to stay.

What do you think that is going to happen?

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.

Whilst walking

This post is part of Amanda’s Friendly Friday Photo Challenge- ‘whilst walking’

An interesting topic.Thank you Amanda,

Our needs

“What do you actually need? Food, Clothing, and Shelter. Everything else is entertainment” Aloe Blacc

Whilst walking I have come across two situations both regarding Homelessness

We witness Homelessness regularly, and won’t hesitate openly to express our helplessness and console ourselves by either ignoring or forgetting and we are sure to take the next step, that is……just move on…..

One feels nothing can be done on an individual level and that it’s the responsibility of Govt bodies or charity institution’s burden.

This particular quote makes one guilty.

“I always wondered why somebody did not do something about that, then I realized I am somebody”   unknown

Many times society vilifies them thinking that they are drug addicts or into antisocial activities.

Homeless Man

“The things you take for granted, someone else is praying for” Unknown

Abandoned by the family, this senior citizen was searching for a shelter! And he was lucky to find this giant cable Reel roller which he said, is his open-air conditioner room. I offered him food. He wished to have a blanket to protect from mosquitoes.

“Before you ignore another homeless person on the street, just remember that that could be someone’s father or someone’s mother and they have a story”. Sayesha Mercado

I feel we should try to comfort them and help them in whatever best way we can.

Every time I come across a homeless person, I remember the famous Singer Phil Collins song ‘ Another day in Paradise’, too good lyrics.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about how much stuff you have…but how many hearts you have touched”  Unknown

Homeless Dogs

Less said better about stray animals.

And in the case of animals, people are scared that stray animals transmit deadly rabies infection and often think that they are the cause of road accidents

Imagine for a moment

“Imagine you are homeless, aimless, you have a mouth but you can’t speak, you have stomach but you can’t let it feed, you have nobody to wipe your tears, you get kicked, you get punched, you get stoned for no reason, you get injured by rash drivers, or you will die out of starvation,

Scared?? You should be, because this is not imagination!! This is real struggle of Stray Dogs!!

Be kind.Be gentle”   unknown

In case you are not aware, International Homeless Animals day is observed annually on August 15.

What did Gandhi say about animals?

“The greatness of a Nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated”.

Please share your thoughts on homelessness and how animals are treated.

Thank you.

Street People

Every street photographer worth his/her salt has done it.

Is taking photograph of street people or homeless people ethically correct?

Does this act, a sort of exploitation?

Some argue that documenting life as it happens is not exploitation.

Some may even argue that it brings out the conditions and plight of these people so that they can guide the helping hands and charity institutions to reach out to these people.

However, exploiting the condition of somebody for the sake of Photograph and profiting from this act is not acceptable.

Also don’t take their photos if you realize that they are  mentally ill or physically challenged.

Never never make fun of their plight.

Just look into their eyes and you will understand.

Personally I feel one should take the permission from these people.

In some situations,I noticed these people requesting the photographer to take their photos and show it to them or even hand over a print.

“I always wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that, then I realized I am somebody” unknown

“You don’t need a reason to help people” unknown

Dear readers please share your thoughts.

Thank you.

This post is part of Weekly Prompts Wednesday: Street People

Midweek – Monochrome # 45

I don’t believe there’s two sides to every story. It’s black and white. There’s right and wrong    Joe Wurzelbacher

Do you see ‘life’ as it is or you wish to see things either in black or white?

My feeling is life is not that simple to see everything as black or white, otherwise, you miss the real intention of Almighty where in life is full of complexities, and you are allowed to learn things for the betterment of your life.

“We’re so quick to go to make things black and white and to put things in their box. But everything is this mixture, and that’s what this world is, is this blend of different things”   Matisyahu

Ultimately you are the judge. Live the way you wish to live!

To be happy one must always be right!

This is what you are taught.

But strangely each one is to their own.

“When it comes to being happy, there is no right or wrong. It’s just a battle between your happiness and their judgment”  unknown

Who decides whether you are good or bad?

“There’s no black and white in this world; it’s all grey. That’s what people are like. No one thinks they’re a baddie. Everyone thinks they’re trying to do their bit to make the world a better place” Riz Ahmed

What exactly are the Human beings?

“Human beings are more or less formulas. Pun intended. We are not any one thing that is mathematically provable. We are more or less than we are anything. We are more or less kind, or more or less not. More or less selfish, happy, wise, lonely”  Adi Alsaid

Thank you.

“Taming my Monkey mind is a full-time job”

Last Photo For September 2020

House below the Road level

“Bless our house as we come and go. Bless our home as the children grow. Bless our families as they gather in. Bless our home with love and friends.”  unknown

Generally, the House, the single most important aspect of our life and family must be at a higher level than the outside world.

Feng Shui says, the energy of the house is pushed below the ground and the family members are subjected to stress.

To solve the problem, the suggestion given is to make the front door attractive and also put those protection symbols handing on the door.

In the above photograph,I also noticed a broken ladder and a water storage tank with a plant in it (on the tiled roof) and I don’t have an explanation.

This post is part of Bushboy’s LAST PHOTO FOR SEPTEMBER 2020 photo challenge participation.

Thank you.

Lens-Artists Challenge #110 – Creativity in the Time of Covid

Have you ever tried Day Light Long Exposure Photography?

It’s a wonderful experience, especially when you try to take the shot from inside a moving car.

Daylight Long exposure photography
“I dream my painting and I paint my dream” Vincent Van Gogh

The images are astonishing along with the blur adding to the beauty. I felt the resulting images are just short of zoom-blur photography.

Please share your experience if you have tried.

You can use a Cable release for stability and ND filter (6 stop to start with and minimum ISO,use aperture between 6 -11,and shutter speed between 5 to 20 seconds depending upon the scene and lighting conditions.

Day light long exposure photography
“Life is a journey filled with unexpected miracles” unknown

Of course one should have patience and make many shots with varying slow shutter speed.

This post is part of Tina Schell’s

Lens-Artists Challenge #110 – Creativity in the Time of Covid

Thank you Tina Schell for the inspiration.

Thank you. Namaste 🙏🙏🙏
