Has Ageism become similar to Racism or Sexism ?

Senior citizen

Ageism is prejudice against time.

Why aging population is given a raw deal ?

Should senior citizens be concerned ?

Are you a senior citizen ?

Are you committing a crime by a having a senior citizen tag ?

Did any one call you Codger,gaffer,grand dad,old bag,wrinkly,old trout,old stagger,Senile,prehistoric,vintage or stone aged ?

Do you regret getting old ?

“Don’t resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege”. Irish Proverb

Is growing old a count down or count up ?

Don’t feel bad if you are made fun of your age. It’s OK.Take it easy.Take a deep breath. This is not the end of life.

This is the society you are living in.Society has its own rule for everything and anything under the Sun.

Society has its own criteria to label people.Society never tires of bullying you !

Read this

“Everything matched my occupational profile. But nevertheless I received a rejection because of my age.Born in 1943,not stout and fat,not lazy and sluggish but instead still energetic and fit.On one hand people talk about skilled worker shortage and on the other hand, being 65 plus year one has no choice”

This was a little excerpt picked up from an informal conversation between two men.

Because of these kinds of situations do you want to look younger ?

Am I to look Younger ?

Some thoughts on age discrimination

1.”Discrimination due to age is one of the greatest tragedies of modern life. The desire to work and be useful is what makes life worth living, and to be told your efforts are not needed because you are the wrong age,is a crime”.   Johnny Ball

2.”Not only do we suffer from racism and sexism, but we also suffer from ageism. And that is that once you reach certain age,you are not allowed to be adventurous, you’re not allowed to be sexual and I think that’s rather hideous.[…] I mean is there a rule? Are you just supposed to die when you’re 40 ?  Madonna Ciccone

What is that best you can do being a senior ?

“Honestly, what is ageism really, you know ? If you take care of yourself and you feel good then that’s really all that matters at the end of the day”.  Shay Mitchell

Does ‘Old is Gold’ Still holds good ?

Benefits of being old, surpasses all others.Never think that the advice given by the so called old person is a utter waste.

Encourage senior citizens with all the enthusiasm.Spare your time and spend sometime with them.

Go ahead & enjoy your senior moments

Remember the day is not far off when, all of us are going to become senior citizens

Because majority of the senior citizens are not given enough importance and even ill treated,UN has come out with a day ,exclusively dedicated for old people.

Happy International Day of Old people

What is my advice ?

For those who get depressed because of getting old…..Start telling yourself…..

“To me old age is always ten years older than I am “. John Burroughs

Start living in dignity.

Please share your thoughts.I appreciate.

Thank you.

Zero Discrimination day March 1 st

Zero Discrimination day

At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go back in the same box      Italian Proverb.

Remember the above quote forever.

‘Zero Discrimination day’ is celebrated internationally on 1 st March, every year by UN & other international organisations.

Zero Discrimination Day 2020 Theme is “Zero Discrimination against Women and Girls” Source-Unique2brilliance.com

The symbol of Zero Discrimination day is a Butterfly, which is widely recognized as a sign of transformation.

We are all different. There is no such thing as a standard or run-of-the mill human being, but we share the same human spirit.   Stephen Hawking

The Zero Discrimination Day is a UNAIDS campaign of solidarity that stands up to racism, discrimination at work, discrimination at school, and other activities that reduce people’s ability to participate fully and meaningfully in society.

Around the world, this movement has garnered the support of many celebrities and prominent figures who want a world free of stigma and discrimination.  Source-Vercalandario.inf

Is Culture responsible for the discrimination?

Looks like it has to take some share.

Sexual, racial, gender violence and other forms of discrimination and violence in a culture can’t be eliminated  without changing culture  Charlotte Bunch

Zero discrimination day also aims to bring awareness of AIDS & HIV positive people, who are discriminated at every stage including medical help.

“Only people who have been discriminated against can really know how much it hurts. Each person feels the pain in his own way, each has his own scars. So I think I’m as concerned about fairness and justice as anybody. But what disgusts me even more are people who have no imagination. The kind T. S. Elliot calls ‘hollow men’. People who fill up that lack of imagination with heartless bits of straw, not even aware of what they’re doing. Callous people who throw a lot of empty words at you, trying to force you to do what you don’t want to”.       Haruki Murakami

Wishing a   ‘Happy Zero Discrimination Day’  to all my WP friends.

Thank you.
