Luxury

Definition of ‘Luxury’

“Luxury is anything that feels special. I mean, it can be a moment, it can be a walk on the beach, it could be a kiss from your child, or it could be a beautiful picture frame, a special fragrance. I think luxury doesn’t necessarily have to mean expensive”  Aerin Lauder

Present day’s definition of Luxury

“Offline is the new luxury”    unknown

“Corona has proved that everything around us is temporary. Things our lives revolve around…work, gym, malls, movies, society.. all gone for a toss as we are learning to live without them. It has taught us that  in the end it’s your own home and family that keeps you safe”   pinterest

My definition of Luxury

“Living in the lap of luxury isn’t bad, except that you never know when luxury is going to stand up”.
Orson Welles

Lens Artists Challenge#117: A Photo Walk

This time Amy wants us to explore Photowalk.

When I came out of our building in the morning hours, I noticed a Road Roller parked on the side of the road, looks like relaying of the road going on in adjacent lanes, which usually done in the night time and this particular Roller is given rest in the morning. I remembered a funny quote….

Everybody talks of moving on with life, move with the flow, or live in the present etcetera, but how much they know the intensity of your suffering or sadness?

“When people around you say move on,get a road roller for rent and move over them…” Hariesh MK

As I was walking in the nearby garden, I noticed a pretty girl.

” A girl should be like a butterfly pretty to see.hard to catch “ unknown

Weather was pleasant and suddenly it started drizzling and I stopped walking instead wished to enjoy a car ride. And I had a surprise!

Are you aware of the famous Indian Speed Breaker? If you are super crazy fast…either you die or the speed breaker dies!

As I continued my walk in the next lane had another surprise. The road was dry and no rain. So I guessed it must be a local phenomenon of drizzle in my area only. I don’t have any other explanation.

Then this gentleman was pushing his cart with scrap and he willingly gave a pose for me but I know that he is the poorest of the poor and started his daily struggle of survival. He sells the scrap to a local merchant for the pittance I learned. He had a sad expression and said that COVID made his life a virtual Hell.

“The more humanity owes the poor man, the more society denies him” Henri Rousseau

I Offered him money to have breakfast, but he politely refused.

As the temperature started rising I thought of winding up my morning walk and a wall writing caught my eye. The quote was by the late Abdul Kalam our past president of the country.

The explanation for FAIL, END, and NO was very encouraging at the end of my photo walk.

“You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind” Unknown

Carvings, sculptures and statues

What is the difference between sculpture and painting ?

“Sculpture is made by taking away, while painting is made by adding” Michelangelo

Wall carving

“You are God’s chisel; it is you He uses to create masterpieces.” Matshona Dhliwayo

statue

A parable: “A man was examining the construction of a cathedral. He asked a stone mason what he was doing chipping the stones, and the mason replied, “I am making stones.” He asked a stone carver what he was doing. “I am carving a gargoyle.” And so it went, each person said in detail what they were doing. Finally he came to an old woman who was sweeping the ground. She said. “I am helping build a cathedral.” …Most of the time each person is immersed in the details of one special part of the whole and does not think of how what they are doing relates to the larger picture” Richard Hamming

Sculpture

“We are like sculptors, constantly carving out of others the image we long for, need, love or desire, often against reality, against their benefit, and always, in the end, a disappointment, because it does not fit them”  Anais Nin
