Dizzy

“As long as the world is turning and spinning, we’re gonna be dizzy and we’re gonna make mistakes” Mel Brooks

Do you remember your childhood days when you used to spin around and when you stop suddenly, you felt dizzy?

How was that feeling?

You feel the room is spinning and you realised your vision fades and you start searching for some support to steady yourself so that you don’t fall.

Did you ever feel dizzy in an adult’s life?

If so please see your family physician.

Terminology

Acrophobia vs Vertigo vs Dizziness

Acrophobia is an extreme fear of heights.

Vertigo is an illusion or hallucination of movements. Here the sensation of imbalance makes the person sway. In vertigo, you feel as if you or your surroundings are moving.

Vertigo – is caused by inner ear problems.

Dizziness is a feeling of being off-balance and you find it difficult to move.

Dizziness is caused by many conditions which include excess alcohol intake, dehydration, low blood sugar, motion sickness, head injuries or medications.

Peep or peek??

“It’s fun to peek into other people’s worlds & see how they go about doing things” Norah Jones

Curious people

In the above photo, not just one, but two people are seemed to be curious.

Kids being curious I can understand. Children learn things only by being curious.

And adult peeping?

Maybe it is a kind of Thrill & human trait to be ‘curious about what others are up to !! And can one can take it as a norm?

But do you enjoy doing this?

The habit of peeping into somebody’s affair….can one express as ‘disgusting’ or just ignore it?

Probably it brings, gossips with toppings and some excitement resulting in rumours!

Are we not obsessed with the lives of others?

It is said this habit is more prevalent in women.

Or you think it’s because of an idle brain, which is the culprit. And one derives demonic pleasure.

Nothing wrong with being inquisitive, after all, we descended from monkeys

Being inquisitive is OK if it relates to our well-being, but unfortunately, we tend to be inquisitive for the wrong reasons.

And we become extremely happy for checking others problems, rather than taking care of our own problems!

“Most of our problems will be solved, if we focus on what is happening in our life rather than peeping into other’s life”   Misbah Abu Obeida Khan

And coming to the English Language…which word is correct to use? Peek or Peep?

Thank you for visiting my site.

Take care, my friend.

‘Balance’ rocks! Balance your mind!

“It’s not how you stand by your challenges, but how you are willing to stand up to your fears that define your life. And that is what rock balancing symbolizes” Paul Lemberg

Have you heard of the term ‘Balancing Rock’?

It’s a natural geological formation involving a large rock, sometimes of enormous size resting on other rocks.

Have you ever wondered how it’s able to balance without falling?

Though they appear to be balancing, the fact is that they are firmly connected to a base rock by a stem.

Anything that Nature teaches you?

“Nature is about balance. All the world comes in pairs – Yin and Yang, right and wrong, men and women; what’s pleasure without pain?” Angelina Jolie

What about the ‘balance’ in your life?

“The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great power around us and in us. If you can do that and live that way, you are really a wise man” Euripides

How about you in particular?

Just like chasing ‘happiness’…the more you try to pursue ‘balanced life’ the more you realise it’s far away distance.

My friend, every one of us long to be happy and healthy.

I am not just talking about your healthy lifestyle with your regular exercise and eating healthy food which we are all aware of.

I am also talking about you taking care of your mental and emotional health.

Here comes how well you can manage your stress leading to a balanced living.

Balanced life

Balanced life consists of all aspects of your life including your relationships, the food you eat, your exercises and how well you can manage your emotional health.

The day you decide that you are least bothered about the stress, is the day you start living a balanced life.

My friend, remember that nothing goes right all the time as per expectations and you achieve nothing if you become emotional.

My formula

This is apart from the proper food and regular exercise.

  • Mingle with people who can make you laugh
  • Receive as well as give
  • Be content
  • If you are physically fit, try to be a volunteer and bring smiles to the faces of people who needed it much more.
  • Be flexible when tragedy strikes
  • Most importantly learn to be peaceful with yourself
  • Always tell yourself that life is a balancing act and everything is in constant motion
  • Don’t complain or get angry

Rest

“Every person needs to take one day away.  A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future.  Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence.  Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for.  Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” Maya Angelou

My friend, how regularly do you take a rest?

I mean taking a day away as Maya Angelou said.

I know, all of us are busy forever and we never find time to rest and retrospect.

Some said that, we all sleep regularly and that too 8 to 10 hours hence no need to be lazy by resting!

Do you agree?

We often use ‘Rest’ and ‘Sleep’ similarly.

But they are different.

Rest

My guess is during ‘rest’ we relax our body. The mood is a bit calm.

One may even close the eyes with a few thoughts happening in between.

Here the brain is fully active.

One is also conscious of the surroundings.

Most of the times ‘rest’ is much shorter than sleep.

In rest, dreams don’t happen.

I put the ‘vacation’ as a kind of rest when not much physical activity is undertaken.

Animals too rest after hunting.

What if the mind is restless during rest?

My friend, I have no answer for this.

I am under the impression that ‘rest’ conveys the meaning of cessation of physical activity and not mental activity.

Remember other than during sound sleep, the mind is always busy and in many, it is restless.

Nothing you can do about this.

You have to live with it.

“We humans have lost the wisdom of genuinely resting and relaxing. We worry too much. We don’t allow our bodies to heal, and we don’t allow our minds and hearts to heal” Nhat Hanh

Sleep

In sleep, there is an altered state of consciousness.

In sleep, the individual’s perception of the external world is significantly reduced.

The body shuts down and said to refresh and rejuvenate later.

In sleep, one can dream.

Sleep is the Natural way of rest.

The main difference between Rest and Sleep

The sleeping period is part of the ‘resting period’.

All the ‘resting period’ is not part of the ‘sleeping period’.

What about Nap?

Nap is said to be a short period of sleep, anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes and during the daytime.

Sleep experts advise having napping before 2.00 pm.

Napping is said to improve mood.

“I got 99 problems but I’m gonna take a nap and ignore them all” Unknown

How to tell if someone is resting or sleeping?

My friend, always I admire you for asking such questions.

I don’t have a ready answer.

But I remember the idiom… ‘you can never wake a person who is pretending to be asleep’

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.

Namaste 🙏🙏🙏

Opposing

One can’t survive in this world without the other

“Yin and yang, male and female, strong and weak, rigid and tender, heaven and earth, light and darkness, thunder and lightning, cold and warmth, good and evil…the interplay of opposite principles constitute the universe.” Confucius

Who is the authority that decides which is good or bad?

My dear friend, don’t stick to your point of view all the time and my suggestion is to try to be flexible.

Nothing is under your control.

Be realistic!

“Your happiness depends on your ability to balance the opposites rather than sticking to only one of the truths while ignoring all others. When you avoid something for long, over a period of time, it creates a craving in you that can disturb the peace of your mind and make you suffer immensely.” Awdhesh Singh

Irony of life

“Accept that there are things in this world we can never explain and life will be understandable. That is the irony of life. It is also the beauty of it” Tan Twan Eng

For the world to survive, one should accept both positive and negative energies

“Everything is balanced. Everything physical (matter/energy) goes back and forth in balanced circles, cycles, or the equivalent. Birth-death, old-young, big-small, strong-weak, start-stop, up-down, rich-poor, beginning-end, fast-slow, hot-cold, pain-pleasure, win-lose, day-night, full-empty, high-low, in-out, success-failure, united-divided, give-receive, creation-destruction, on-off, positive-negative, etc.
Positive and negative forces moving in balance are the physical universe.” Michael Smith

Queue Sense

This is a repost from my achieves.

It is said that people spend billions of hours waiting in line throughout the world, in order to get their things done.

What is Queue?

According to Oxford Dictionary

1.British- A-line or sequence of people or vehicles awaiting their turn to be attended to or to proceed.

2.Computing
A list of data items, commands, etc., stored so as to be retrievable in a definite order, usually the order of insertion.

3.Archaic- A plait of hair worn at the back.

Why do we Queue ? (Standing in the line)

Because it is polite to wait for your turn. Without Queue, there will be chaos, resulting in a further increase in waiting time.

But still, why do some people jump the queue? ( cutting the line )

  • Maybe they lack discipline or
  • Bringing up is not proper
  • Not keeping well or
  • Arrogant or
  • They may miss an appointment in some other place
  • May be carrying a sick child…..

One can go on and on…and surely at least 90% of the time these jumpers face the wrath of others.

Looks like animals have better queue sense than humans!

Be a part of solution, not part of the pollution

Necessity is the mother of invention

The above photograph is not really great, just an average photo of a tree trunk.

What attracted me was this plastic empty bottle hung to the branch and of course, you can also notice another plastic bag with some contents on the right side of the image.

On enquiry with local people, I understand that the bottle is used to carry petrol from the nearby petrol pump (petrol Bunk) for filling the petrol tank of the auto-rickshaw (a common transport vehicle in India)

Whenever an auto-rickshaw suddenly stops in the middle and the passengers are wondering… the driver realises that the petrol tank of the vehicle is almost empty… these bottles come in handy to fill the petrol from the nearby petrol pump and that the driver need not drag the vehicle to the petrol pump station.

The plastic bag on the right side, I was told that it contains some talisman that is said to bring good luck to those who wear it.

And the saga of Plastic…

Sadly plastic continues its hold on the people because it’s handy and convenient at every instance.

Less said the better about the people which include you & me.

“Convenience at the expense of the planet is not convenience at all”  Unknown

“Plastic will be the main ingredient of all our grandchildren’s recipe” Anthony T Hincks
