Vertiginous

Vertigo is always a funny feeling.

Some enjoy it. And we remember our childhood enjoying rounds in a colourful carousel.

But some are scared. They complain of dizziness.

But as far as money is concerned do you ever feel dizzy?

You may wonder why I am asking this stupid question.

My friend, money is vertiginous.

“The love of money is a vertiginous pool, sucking all into destiny it. It is troubled and uneven, giddy and unsafe; serving no end but its own, and that also in a restless and uneasy motion”   Jeremy Tailor

Ground View- from highest point of ‘London Eye’

“He doesn’t know which is worse, a past he can’t regain or a present that will destroy him if he looks at it too clearly. Then there’s the future. Sheer vertigo”   Margaret Atwood

Thank you.

Who decides that you look ugly ?

“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down to us. Pigs treat us as equal” Winston Churchill

By deciding and calling somebody or something ugly…are we not questioning the Wisdom of Almighty?

Do ever the so called Ugly Persons think that he or she is ugly?

The whole world is obsessed with ‘beauty’

I can never know why people like what they like and decide to differentiate between ugly & beauty.

Maybe advertising beauty products is one of the reasons?  I am not sure. But one thing I am sure of obsession with being beautiful is a sure recipe for low self-esteem.

“No matter how ugly you are; there is always someone who sees his heaven in your eyes.”              M.F. Moonzajer

Definition of Ugly

Dictionary.com says

  • Very unattractive or unpleasant to look at; offensive to the sense of beauty; displeasing in appearance.
  • Disagreeable; unpleasant; objectionable:                                                                                                ugly tricks; ugly discords

  • Morally revolting:                                                                                                                                            Ugly crimes
  • Threatening trouble or danger:                                                                                                                      ugly symptoms.
  • Mean; hostile; quarrelsome.                                                                                                                          an ugly mood; an ugly frame of mind.
  • (especially of natural phenomena) unpleasant or dangerous:                                                                      ugly weather; an ugly sea

Appearance

Unfortunately we always mean ugly, in terms of one’s appearance.

Sadly we extend the notion of beauty to the animal kingdom too!

Can anything escape the human eye?

Now coming to the topic…

Are pigs ugly?

No, my friend.

All creations of God are beautiful.

Pigs are not ugly by appearance.

My guess is they are called ugly may be due to the garbage they eat or being fat and overweight and most importantly they enjoy playing in the dirty mud.

But we forget that that is what pigs are supposed to be.

“A pig has its own nature; no one can take that away from him, it can’t be changed, why blame the poor thing?”  Unknown

Take home message

“Don’t look for a pretty face- it will turn old one day

Don’t look for good skin- it will turn wrinkle one day

Don’t look for a hot body- it will change one day

Don’t look for nice hair- it will turn white one day

Instead, look for a loyal heart- that will love every day”  unknown

Thank you.

Empty

Can you recollect the Toilet roll saga?

Every mall worth the name in the city showed a sad picture of empty shelves.

Thanks to some fake news in the social media, courtesy coronavirus!

We never felt ashamed of becoming hoarders.

“Hoard food and it rots. Hoard money and you rot. Hoard power and the nation rots.”
Chuck Palahniuk

Instead of helping the needy, we became extremely selfish.

We threw all our values into the dust bin.

Is there misuse of the phrase ‘Survival of the fittest’?

Then why we complain about the shortage of essentials?

We all need spiritual guidance

“Food for the hungry cannot come from empty shelves.

Money to assist the needy cannot come from an empty purse.

Support and understanding cannot come from the emotionally starved.

Teaching cannot come from the unlearned.

And most important of all, spiritual guidance cannot come from the spiritually weak”

Marion G Romney

Is possessing more better or possessing less?

My friend the answer is neither.

Read this quote

“The more we possess, the emptier we become. And in such a life-destroying dynamic, the solution is not to possess less. Rather, it’s to realize that we ourselves are a possession. And in surrendering ourselves to the God who desires to possess the whole of us, there is then no shred of emptiness left within us.”   Craig D. Lounsbrough

Largest

Do you have any idea of the largest in the world?

Read this.

Search in google takes you to the largest continent, largest delta, largest desert, largest island, largest dam, largest library, largest solar plant……the list is too long.

The quote below is so true about the ‘Largest’ in the world….and there is no match for it.

whatchamacallit

“You don’t know,what you don’t know” Socrates

Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Whatchamacallit as ‘something that is hard to classify or whose name is unknown or forgotten’ (Thingamajig)

It is also used to refer to gadgets or parts of things that might not even have a commonly known name.

In the above photo, I have come across leaves having thorns. I don’t know what this tree is and the first time I have come across leaves with projecting spikes.

This reminded me of the famous idiom ‘Thorn in the Flesh’

“Thorn in the flesh is nothing compared to a thorn in the conscience”  Adrian Rogers

Later I realized that they are not thorns. They are spines. Botanical Jargon!

What are thorns, spines, and Prickles?

Botanically, thorns are derived from shoots, spines are derived from leaves, and Prickles are derived from the epidermal tissue of the plant. The spines of the leaf discourage the animals from eating.

 Thank you.

Colour

“There are no lines in nature. only areas of colour one against another” Edouard Manet

What is ‘colour’ to do with people?

People are people.

“People change colours, so does their priorities”  Manju

How fast people can change their colours?

“People change their colour faster than a Chameleon”  Ansuman Mohapatra

Do people change throughout their life?

“I firmly believe that every six years, a person goes through a serious change. Think about it: At 6, you start school. At about 12, you start hitting puberty. And then it goes on. You start hitting these different mental levels, and people change.” Randy Houser

What is the worst thing that can happen?

“It’s unbelievable how fast people can change. One day, you mean everything to them. The next day, you don’t even exist anymore.”
Unknown

Thank you.
