A gentle word opens an iron gate-Bulgarian Proverb

Does life’s gate teach us anything?

Yes, my friend.

It teaches one lesson every day.

“Today I close the door to the past.

Open the door to the future.

Take a deep breath, step on through and

Start a new chapter in my life”  Unknown

Saturday Saying

“One of the main concerns of philosophy is to warn people against jumping to conclusions.” Jostein Gaarder

Assumptions…assumptions and assumptions…

“If others tell us something we make assumptions,

And if they don’t tell us something we make assumptions to fulfil our need to know and replace the need to communicate.

Even if we hear something and we don’t understand we make assumptions about what it means and then believe the assumptions.

We make all sorts of assumptions because we don’t have the courage to ask questions”  Miguel Ruiz

Assume vs Presume

Though they sound to convey the same meaning, they are different, my friend.

Assume– is take it for granted without any evidence or proof. You are guilty of overconfidence.

Presume– here somebody takes an educated guess based on a piece of reasonable evidence or proof.

Maybe the assumption is more dangerous than presumption?

When you are not sure which word to use, think of the level of certainty involved.

If there is some amount of certainty, you can use the word ‘presume’.

Types of assumptions

Assumptions can be positive or negative.

The majority proceeds with ‘negative assumptions’ and either suffer or are embarrassed in the process.

In ‘positive assumption’ – you assume the best and try to make that assumption true.

Assumption possibilities

We are human and the assumption is our nature, and none can help anybody.

In many situations, the assumption is instantaneous, a sort of being judgmental, and mostly negative.

Hundreds of examples can be given. I shall just mention a few.

Assumptions are extremely common among relationships since things are taken for granted!

  • Assumption based on appearance
  • Assumption based on colour
  • Assuming that everyone you meet is a b*****d or b***h
  • Assuming that all are selfish
  • When a brother & sister walking together you assume they are lovers.
  • Assuming that everybody is full of BS
  • Whenever things go wrong, it’s because of other peoples fault
  • People are unreasonable
  • Life is full of s**t based on your experience
  • Assuming things based on a belief system

How to avoid assumptions?

It’s impossible to avoid assumptions. But one can try.

  • Check first whether it’s true or false
  • Question more
  • communicate properly
  • Stop controlling your life (false beliefs)
  • Being mindful- in other words, realise that it’s only an assumption and not to jump to conclusions

Rules of Life

“By the time you learn the rules of life, you’re too old to play the game” Grenville Kleiser

How many rules are there in our life?

I am sure many rules are there in life starting from 3 to 5 to 7 to 10 to 75 to… So many other hundreds of golden rules.

Then you have basic rules of life.

These are all written rules.

What about the unwritten rules? How many are there ?

Somebody jokingly said these unwritten rules are infinite!

Is it possible to lead our life without rules?

I doubt very much.

It leads chaos and confusion.

But majority love-no rules and want freedom.

But then freedom comes with responsibility.

You are tensed because you have a responsibility to fulfil.

you lose your peaceful time.

How to get peaceful life? ( Just 2 rules)

My friend, just follow these two rules.

“Two rules for a peaceful life:

Depression in failure should never go to heart,

And ego in success should never go to the brain”

Dr.A.P.J.Abdul. Abdul Kalam

Are you aware of the basic rules of life? (Just 2 rules)

“Two basic rules of life are: 1) Change is inevitable. 2) Everybody resists change” W.Edwards Deming

Take home message (Just 1 rule)

“The golden rule is that there are no golden rules.”
George Bernard Shaw

My unasked advice (Don’t miss reading)

✔Keep calm and follow the rules.

✔Smile, you don’t own all the problems in the world.

Thank you.

Tuesday Thoughts

Pay Attention my friend

“Wisdom is not the product of thought.

The deep knowing that is wisdom arises through the simple act of giving someone or something your full attention. Attention is primordial intelligence, consciousness itself…It joins the perceiver and the perceived in a unifying field of awareness”

Eckhart Tolle

Do you know the simple secret of life?

“People will reveal who they are if you just pay attention.”
Germany Kent

The other secret of a successful life

“You prove to people that you don’t pay attention to their words when they see that you don’t remember what they tell you earlier.”
Israelmore Ayivor

Is this possible?

“Pay great attention to those who love you, and love those who hate you.”

Debasish Mridha

But in real life what happens commonly?

We ignore those who love us truly!

We die to get the attention of those, who ignore us!

Please share your thoughts.

Do you pay attention to things in which you are not interested?

 Thank you.

Thursday Thoughts

Himalayas are unique

“There is something about the Himalayas not possessed by the Alps, something unseen and unknown, a charm that pervades every hour spent among them, a mystery intriguing and disturbing. Confronted by them, a man loses his grasp of ordinary things, perceiving himself as immortal, an entity capable of outdistancing all changes, all decay, all life, all death”  Frank Smythe

“There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading to the same place, so it doesn’t matter which path you take. The only person wasting time is the one who runs around the mountain, telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.”  Hindu proverb

Thank you.

Thursday Thoughts

Does fate exist?

What do you say, my friend?
I feel talking of fate etc. is nothing but an attempt for justification.

I am of the school of thought that ‘fate’ does not exist.

You are experiencing the things that are happening beyond your control, so you are ready to come with an excuse called ‘fate’.

You try to get some comfort by this. Is it not so?

With corona impact on your life, you are in no mood to question your ‘fate’ and you have decided not to make any improvement in your life.

World’s greatest lie

“At a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what is happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie”  Paulo Coelho

“And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Paulo Coelho

You have concluded that Life just happens and simply no escape!

My friend read this.

“Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you”  Tony Robbins

Yes. You read it right.

My friend, whether you are on top of the world or you are fully soaked in shit, it’s still your life and you are the creator of everything and you alone are responsible for this.

If you have time I request you to go through my guest post in Renard’s World successfully run by our gracious host Mr.Renard Moreau, where I discuss Tony Robbin’s quote.

Check this link – Life Happens!

I am sure you will change your mind.

What about Destiny?

Good question.

Destiny is what exactly happens to you and not fate!

Destiny depends on you and you alone.

If you still believe in the law of ‘Fate’…I can assure you that you have come to this conclusion because you let other people and those external circumstances control you 100% and you never made any sincere attempt to overcome the crisis on your own.

Your destiny depends on you as to how you make sincere attempts to achieve success.

And forget talking about fate or throwing blame on others for your s**it

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.
