In the above image, you are seeing an insect on a leaf, maybe relaxing.

The way it has postured, first I thought it was a mosquito.

On closer inspection with my macro lens, I realised that it is a common housefly.

If you notice the body of the house fly is not straight and it is bent more than usually, we notice.

Anything wrong with the fly?

I don’t know.

Is it feeling chill? or it is uncomfortable due to hot weather?

Further, you can also notice a small water bubble at its mouth.

Photographing a House-fly while it jets out the water bubble is a rare opportunity.

Do you know what is happening?

It’s ‘Bubble-blowing’

Housefly blowing a bubble of water with its mouth., the process is said to keep the insect cool when the temperature outside is high.

I took this photo soon after a mild drizzle.

My guess is the falling of the raindrops on the hot soil has increased the temperature instantly and to cool its body the fly must have jetted out the water bubble.

Who loves house flies?

No way anybody loves house fly.

They are unpleasant and an eyesore.

They fly over peoples faces and hover over our delicious food while carrying varieties of disease-causing bacteria.

Sadly they are all-powerful

“There isn’t much a lion can do in the midst of flies.”
VK Boy

House Fly Trivia

  • House flies live on fluid (strictly on a liquid diet) shaming humans!!
  • Can walk upside down (Shame on you batman!)
  • They taste their food with their legs (Yuck!)
  • House flies’ poops as they savour your food and gives- two hoots to your famous phrase- Don’t shit where you eat
  • They transmit more than 50 diseases (Mission Accomplished)
  • Their life span is around 30 days (yet enough damage done)
  • You puke if you wish to know. House flies make a living in filth. And their eggs are laid in filth, but strangely they love your yummy food just to defecate and eat the liquid part of your food
  • Housefly ceases to exist if humans are absent (hats off to Camaraderie!)

Be strong and determined my friend

Butterfly

“The wings of transformation are born of patience and struggle” Janet S. Dickens

Do you know why a butterfly is the happiest?

A butterfly says, “The caterpillar-me is history, my metamorphosis, a mystery, and today is a present. My struggle gifted me” Manali Oak

Patience is a virtue

We all know this.

My friend, if you possess this quality, you are the winner in every aspect of your life.

If you have patience, the actions which you take are based on not rashness but a proper assessment of the situation giving you the advantage.

Having patience is not an easy task but in the end, you love its fruits.

Whether it’s the things or the persons (we are with) that we routinely see or come across, we never care.

We take things for granted.

We give the least attention.

I don’t know the reason why we behave like this.

But we behave differently when we notice similar beauty in a different place.

“We don’t give a damn to the insects on our Earth, but if we could find even a single insect on Mars, the whole world would cherish it like crazy!”
Mehmet Murat ildan

Have you come across an ugly butterfly?

My friend, there is no such thing as an ugly butterfly.

It’s all in our mental setup.

We always love to compare.

We compare one butterfly with the other and say oh! this butterfly is more beautiful than the other.

The image above is that of Borbo Cinnara, is a butterfly commonly known as Rice Swift or Formosan Swift.

It’s found in India, South East Asian countries and Australia.

The wings of the adult range from brown to yellow, having white spots in the forewing.

“Butterflies are nature’s tragic heroes. They live most of their lives being completely ordinary. And then, one day, the unexpected happens. They burst from their cocoons in a blaze of colors and become utterly extraordinary. It is the shortest phase of their lives, but it holds the greatest importance. It shows us how empowering change can be” Kelseyleigh Reber

Everything that the spider needs to make a spider-web is not found in the housefly it’s right there in the spider! Whatever you need to make an impact is in you! Discover yourself and make a difference! Israelmore Ayivor

The above image is that of an Orb-weaver spider.

Just look at its majestic pose.

What about the design of the web?

The moment you see a spider, feel like crushing it. Because you are scared.

“The spider crawls eight legs and furry: Better get out in a hurry!” Rusty Fischer

Why you should not kill a spider?

Because spiders eat disease-causing pests like mosquitoes, roaches, flies and clothes.

Believe me, if I say, they are the best home pest controllers.

You are indebted lifelong to these eight-legged wonders!!

Humans have already caused enough damage to Mother Nature and the present Corona Virus pandemic giving the warning bell!

Have a ‘Live & let live’ motto and share your home with these great creatures.

“If you want to live and thrive, let the spider run alive.” Spanish proverb

Spider is a magnificent creature and an Engineering marvel and millimetre perfect!

Spiderwebs are always amazing.

5 Life’s Lessons to be learnt from the spider

1.Patience is a bitter plant, but its fruit is a sweet Chinese proverb.

It takes about a minimum of an hour to spin its web which easily gets disrupted repeatedly and you must know that spiders are not disappointed and rebuild their web every day and wait for the catch patiently.

Spiders tell humans to work daily with responsibility and to have patience. Rome is not built in a day and rewards are astonishing. We must have faith in our work.

2.Life is fragile. We’re not guaranteed a tomorrow so give it everything you’ve gotTim Cook

Spiders web looks delicate but scientifically it is stronger than steel. Similarly, our life is fragile and just like a spider makes its best effort to build a web and wait for the catch we must make our best efforts to lead a better life.

Let us remember that we are stronger than we think.

3. Always expect the worst, and you will never be disappointed   Peter Wastholm

Any number of times, you destroy the web, never spider complains, instead patiently rebuilds its web, spider already knew its home is temporary and prepared to rebuild the damaged web.

So if you are mentally prepared for the worst you are sure to rebuild your career. Perseverance matters.

4.Creativity –“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt”   Sylvia Plath.

The creativity of the spider, in the web formation, is unique and the spider never goes into self-doubt. Humans should adapt to creativity. There should be constant creativity of the soul. Never doubt your abilities.

5.Don’t wait for the perfect time to start making changes to your life. The time is now   Chris Gardner
The spider never looks for a perfect site or day and it knows where the food is available and quickly starts building the web.

Don’t wait for the perfect day or perfect time. There is no such thing.

Get started today, try to reach the goals, whatever you are planning.
