Hard to believe our family tree produced so many nuts!

National Almond Day

Do you know that National Almond day is celebrated on February 16 annually?

Almonds are said to be the most heart-healthy nut.

They are rich in protein, fat,  Vitamin E, fibre, magnesium, manganese and are said to lower cholesterol.

Almond is eaten directly or by adding to milk, pasta or butter.

As per the Dietary Guidelines for Americans advised to remember 1-2-3, 1 ounce of almonds (28gms), or about 23 almond nuts, as the daily ideal consumption of Almonds.

One particular downside of eating almonds daily and in large quantities is weight gain.

If you are on medication you must be careful about regular eating since it contains high manganese.


Let us thank the bees first, without their help almonds can’t be produced.

So never kill the bees.

Secondly, let us be grateful to farmers who yield these nutritional nuts.

My talk is limited to the human belly, and the unwanted,unnecessary risky and even dangerous level of accumulation of fat layer in the Belly.

Belly fat can be visceral ( accumulation of fat between the internal organs ) or subcutaneous ( fat accumulation beneath the skin )

Between these two types of fat,visceral fat accumulation is more harmful causing health complications.

Any standard measurements for belly size ?

  • For women belly size should be less than 35 inches ( 88.9 Cms )
  • For men belly size should be less than 40 inches ( 101.6 Cms )

Remember you may not be overweight and you may be under false security that everything OK,but you belly fat is the one that tells the story of rest of your life.

What are the health problems one can get if one has excess of belly fat?

  • Heart diseases including heart attack
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer ( Breast / Colon )
  • Asthma
  • Dementia

Common Causes of excess of Belly fat

  • Junk food
  • Sedentary life
  • Alcohol / Smoking
  • Lack of sleep
  • Never ending stress
