Praise vs Criticism

Red-flowers.

“Accept both compliments and criticism. It takes both sun and rain for a flower to grow” Unknown

If you read the above quote…you know pretty well that it’s only good for reading and gives you a ‘feel- good’ sensation. In reality…

We can’t be Gods!

All of us love compliments.

None are comfortable with criticism.

That is our nature.

It can’t be changed.

Wise men talk of constructive criticism and destructive criticism.

But we being humans…these categories make no difference.

Externally we may say “We don’t care”. But internally we are hurt.

The moment somebody criticizes us, we take it personally.

That’s OK.

How?

Let us lead our life the way we want. After all this ‘life’ belongs to us. Is it not so?

What is the best we can do?

“I pay no attention whatever to anybody’s praise or blame. I simply follow my own feelings” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Elbert Hubbard has a formula

“To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing”

You and I know that…this is impossible.

Which do you prefer- Praise or criticism?

OMG! who prefers criticism?

“The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism” Norman Vincent Peale

Criticism

“Never explain, never retract, never apologize. Just get the thing done and let them howl” Nellie McClung

You have a love-hate relationship with criticism.

You do not love criticism because it can hurt you.

You may think it’s an unfair criticism but nothing you can do about it.

You enjoy most if you are praised whether you deserve it or not.

You may listen to or even love others if they claim it’s constructive criticism.

I think constructive criticism is a nicer way of criticism without hurting the feelings of the person.

Is there such thing called constructive criticism??

I doubt.

Strictly speaking, criticism is criticism.

Read this quote

“There is nothing constructive about criticism… it’s always negative! Uplifting advice, on the other hand, is a rare thing of beauty!”
 AJ Vosse

Please share your views as to why you hate criticism of any kind.

Tuesday Thoughts

web

“The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It’s what you are made of, not the circumstances”   unknown

Agree about this quote.

But in general what we are made up of?

We are made up of our mentality.

What is our mentality?

You know my friend. Don’t pretend.

We all love complaining.

“There will always be something to complain about. But you have a choice.

You can complain about things you can’t control or you can control what you can control and let go of what you can’t.

You can focus on your problems or focus on getting better.

You can look for an excuse or you a look within and find your best”  Jon Gordon

Are you confused between complaining and criticizing?

No need my friend.

Complaining is an act of expression of dissatisfaction. You tend to vent your negative emotions, though you are aware that nothing can be achieved.

Criticism is associated with judgment. Better if it is done positively.

What happens if you are a chronic complainer?

Simple, either you spoil your health because of tensions you create or you get a bad name in the society.

“Complaints are like the clouds that produce no rain no matter how thick they gather. Never depend on your complaint thinking they are staircases. Drop that thing.”  Israelmore Ayivor

Stop complaining and whining.

Start enjoying your life, since nothing is under your control!

Thank you.
