Every year, on May 31, WHO and partners around the world celebrate World No-Tobacco  Day, dedicated to highlight the health risks associated with the consumption of tobacco and promote effective policies to reduce consumption.

The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, killing more than 7 million people a year. More than 6 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while around 890 000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.

Thousands stop smoking every year-   by dying

As you notice,all the three person are enjoying smoking,and on the left side one can see the notice stuck ( local language ), ironically telling that the area is prohibited from smoking and offenders will be punished !!

How individual lives are changing ,relationships are thrown into the dust bin,people forgetting the meaning and value & sacredness of ‘LOVE’,

Thanks to addiction to social media & smart phones !

Relationships are harder now!

Be selfish,thanks to the inventions. indulge in your likings,Drink till you drop dead,fight without any reason,Ego is your life,jealousy is your partner, Greedy is your nature,Killing innocents is your taste,care not anybody,you owe the happiness you deserve,forget about dieting & exercises which are all money-making machines,,cheating is your mantra,money is everything and enjoy dying your own death,you owe nothing to anybody!

Is this the lesson modern-day life style teaching us ? Is this the meaning of advancement in human life ? Is this what all about relationships ?

And what about ethics,values,respect,responsibilities ,family relationship ?

When diet is wrong,Medicine is of no use .When Diet is correct, there is no need of Medicine.

But sadly, many times we love to over eat, eat wrong food,and express lack of time for daily exercises. Many other  excuses are readily available.

Some of my friends who are diabetic,regulary eat sweets ( which is forbidden),and they come up with statements saying that their sugar is under control since they take their diabetic medicines regularly ,as if the diabetic medicines give them the licence to over eat the sweets.

Some other friends with Hypertension ( High blood Pressure ) eat food rich in salt, like pickles,salt laced chips etc.( salt is restricted for hypertensive patients).

They happily tell me that they are care free since medicines they take to control the BP, will also take care of their salt in the food.

 

What is your type ? Do You eat food and medicine also like my friends ?

If you ask me, yes,I find many times difficult to resist the food,over eat some times and take pancreatic enzyme tablets for better digestion,whenever I felt I overindulged.

What are your thoughts on this subject ?

Is there any such thing called positive addiction ?

Positive addiction,addiction,negative addiction

The word ADDICTION sends jitters down the spines.

I know you started thinking of drugs,smoking,alcohol,gambling,sex,pornography,food,video games…..and the list goes on.

Human being is not immune to ‘weakness’.The greatness lies making the weakness into positive Strength.

Have we to think of addiction only in negative term ?

Can addiction be ‘Positive’ ?

Can’t we have ‘positive addiction’ ?

Example- People in order to to maintain a healthy life style may indulge in having

1.Vitamins.2.Fruits.3.Regular exercises.4.Body building 5 .consumption of water.6.Taking up the job, you are passionate.7.Reading.8.Spending more of family time.9.Dancing.etc.etc

Positive addiction is supposed to bring health ,happiness,strength,famiy bond,contentment,appreciation of the magnanimity of the Almighty,improve the wisdom and spirituality,above all bring the ‘Feel good factor ‘.

Remember not to over do it.Otherwise it becomes negative addiction.

I feel one can have ‘positive addiction’ without the component of ‘Negative consequences

Finally a question to the readers….

Can you name ‘healthy behaviour’ as ‘Positive Addiction’ ?

Is not ‘positive addiction’ contradicting the very definition of addiction ?

According to Wikipedia Addiction is a brain disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences”.

Please enlighten me further.
