Coalesce

Synonym to power

“Drops coalesce into showers;

Become one to drench lovers,

Day dissolves into night,

Becomes a way to dream flight,

Metaphors explode into poetries,

Become an elixir in poet’s arteries,

A girl grows into a woman,

Becomes a synonym to power” Aurora

And the advice?

“Women must learn to play the game as men do” Elanor Roosevelt

Free

“Don’t be drawn into any web of entanglement created by others.” Steven Redhead

In the photo above the twine rope knot symbolising the entanglement!

I always have this doubt

Is there any such term in the English Language called ‘free gift’?

In India, we come across this term during festival seasons, when shops lure customers with an offer of ‘free gifts’

Even advertisers use this word in newspapers and magazines to attract customers.

Is it not misleading the consumer with a feeling of  ‘Double Freeness’?

Is not the gift 🎁 supposed to be free?

Why one should add ‘free’ to it?

Oxford Lexico Dictionary says  Free Gift is “A small item, given without charge, as an inducement to purchase or subscription”

I can give an example- YOU GET A FREE GIFT IF YOU SPEND MORE THAN $10

English natives can guide me whether in the UK they use ‘Free gift’.

You must be aware of WhatsApp Scam– which offered free gifts on Amazon’s 30th anniversary.

How free is the ‘free gift?

My gut feeling is, there is no such thing as ‘free gifts’.

No business person worth the salt is willing to undergo any loss.

My guess is the cost of the ‘free gift’ is already included in the items you are going to purchase and the shop owner loses nothing since there is no bargain.

Remember, the purchase deals are always associated with ‘free gifts’.

Congratulations since you are willing to get duped, by accepting the ‘free gift’!

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.

Venation

What is venation?

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary

1.Parallel- the veins run parallel to each other.

2.Reticulation- Irregular vein arrangement for the creation of network

Parallel Venation

“There is not a single leaf which is a mere ornament; all contribute to the fruitfulness of the earth, and the support of its inhabitants”  Christoph Christian Sturm

Reticulate venation

“One of the great lessons the fall of the leaf teaches, is this: do your work well and then be ready to depart when God shall call” Tryon Edwards

Nuance

Nuance Meaning

Nuance implies a very slight difference in  ✔appearance, ✔meaning or ✔sound.

It’s subtle difference.

As you notice in the photo below, there is subtle difference in blue colour of the sea, the island and the sky with clouds.

blue sea

“Blue suggests the sea and sky, and they, after all, are in actual, visible nature what is most abstract” Yves Klein

Let us talk about nuance in terms of ‘meaning’

Human beings suffer from a communication gap because there is likely to be a subtle element of difference as to what you are saying and the other person’s perception of what you meant.

Perfect nuance is difficult especially when you are translating.

Why there is a lack of proper communication between you and others?

An example being even if you tell a correct thing to your wife, friend or superior…there is a chance that they may think it’s wrong.

My friend, humans are complex and we are experts in deriving things from individual perceptions. Though there are many reasons for ‘communication gap’, ‘perceptions’ take the upper hand.

“I stopped explaining myself when I realised people only understand from their level of perception”  Unknown

Why such things happen commonly?

I guess it’s because of the language we use (invariably the languages are made such that it’s extremely difficult to understand in true grammatical sense).

Even with the mother tongue, sometimes it’s difficult to convey what exactly you meant to say.

“It’s impossible to say a thing exactly the way it was, because of what you say can never be exact, you always have to leave something out, there are too many parts, sides, crosscurrents, nuances; too many gestures, which could mean this or that, too many shapes which can never be fully described, too many flavours, in the air or on the tongue, half-colours, too many”  Margaret Atwood

Human’s perception of things has no match!

“There are some people who could hear you speak a thousand words, and still not understand you. And there are others who will understand without you even speaking a word”   Unknown

Breach

This world is an insecure place, my friend.

We are all insecure.

Can you dream of security in an otherwise insecure world?

“A house without security can’t be a home”   Mehmet Murat ildan

As you notice in the photo above

A small portion of the top of the compound wall on your left side of the photo, showing the missing wire mesh fence as that portion of wire mesh got loosened and fallen off on the wall, resulting in a breach.

Breach of Modern kind

These days we remember the term ‘breach’, only when there is a data breach or a dam breach.

Encryption of data is not helping in a great way since always somebody comes up with ideas.

Data breaches happening at alarming rate (from your  personal details to highly sensitive materials). My friend if you think you are safe, you are 100% wrong.

Somebody reading what all you are typing in the internet.

The tragedy is that none of us are bothered as long as we aren’t the affected party.

If you can recollect a cyber attack on US gasoline pipeline, shut the refining centers affecting many cities due to disruption of supply chains.

We all know the meaning of Breach

Sometimes the term Breach is confused with the medical term ‘Breech’

The breech is used by the medical community in Obstetrics practice, known as ‘ Breech presentation’, signifying the position of the fetal head in relation to the cervix with the fetus in a longitudinal lie.

Security can never be 100% secure!

Yes, my friend.

That is the way of life. Keep calm and accept this.

Nobody is secure and nothing is secure!

Be it’s your house, your computer, your password or the secrets of you which you share with your closest ones and your office matters.

All your dealings via cloud storage are not secure anymore.

Forget about ‘breach in security’ of many kinds. What about you?

I notice an inherent insecurity in you.

You are insecure of your ageing!

I need not stress much about this.

“Insecurity is a powerful enemy. It uses people to use make-up, plastic surgery, collagen injections and liposuctions; to nip, tuck, throw up, push up, suck in and laser”  Carlos Wallace

Remember even our life is not secure!

“The only system which is truly secure is one which is switched off and unplugged, locked in a titanium lined safe, buried in a concrete bunker, and is surrounded by nerve gas and very highly paid armed guards. Even then, I wouldn’t stake my life on it”    Gene Spafford

Any Solutions?

Lead a simple life and be content.

If you still insist to know the permanent solution….I have a suggestion. Read this…

“Real security can only be found in that which can never be taken from you – Your relationship with God”  The Bible

Thank you.

Life is not perfect but the view is!

“No known roof is as beautiful as the skies above” Micheal O Muircheartaigh

How frequently, you come across a weathercock my friend?

A weather vane or weathercock is an instrument used to show the direction of the wind.

It’s used as an architectural ornament to the highest point of a building.

The term weathervane used as a slang word for a politician, who frequently changes his opinions

Source-Wikipedia

Why the Rooster?

The rooster was used because of its biblical symbolism.

How does a weather vane work?

The weather vane if properly balanced will spin on the top of the axis.

The weather vane points towards the source of the wind.

Knowing which direction the wind is blowing from is useful for the farmers, pilots and meteorologists.

“If you send up a weather vane or put your thumb up in the air every time you want to do something different, to find out what people are going to think about it, you’re going to limit yourself. That’s a very strange way to live”   Jessye Norman

Best time to sit on the roof

“Let us sit on a roof-top at 2 am and talk about life”   Unknown
