At the same time do not miss to notice the bloody demonic face with horns , wide eyes, protruding tongue, and an artificial smile in an intimidating fashion. This demonic Doll is known as ‘Dristi Gombe’ in India.
Dristi Means ‘ Evil Eye’.In hindi it is well-known as ‘Buri Nazar’
This particular doll in unique in India, became part of the culture and is centuries old.
The purpose of ‘Dristi Doll’ is that, it wards off the Evil Eye and protects the Owner from the misfortunes & jealous onlookers. In other words to frighten off unpleasant & evil-minded people.
In India one can come across these ‘Dristi Dolls’ on the buildings, on the vehicles (trucks, lorries, auto rickshaws), construction sites and even during festival celebrations .(Pumpkins are painted with the demon face’)
Besides the demonic face, drishti items can include, lemon, red or green chilli,
Truly ‘Intriguing India’ . When you visit India and happen to come across this scary doll don’t get surprised or start wondering
1.What is your definition of beauty ?
2.And why you deserve to be proud of your beauty ?
3.Can beauty be permanent ?

English language is as simple as tough.
One is proud that,it’s an international language and people from different parts of the world can communicate with each other easily.
But the language is also funny,in sense derogatory words not only used but also accepted as a norm.
Take the Example of the word ‘BITCH’
Oxford dictionary defines Bitch as
1.A female dog,wolf,fox or otter
2.Unpleasant woman,offensive woman.
Commonly used as a slang word.
But why use it with KARMA ?
‘Karma’ is a religious concept, where as ‘Bitch’ is a derogatory word.
I can’t explain why ,but I am not comfortable, whenever somebody combines religious words with slang stuff.
Is KARMA is really bitchy ?
My feeling is KARMA is not a bitch.
My guess is people use this word whenever they think that the person is suffering because his or her bad Karma
Suppose the person is enjoying his life because of his or her good Karma……can we still say Karma is a bitch ?
You can’t escape karma … It is what it is.
It doesn’t judge, it’s neither good nor bad like most people think.
It’s the result of all the actions, positive and negative–a constant balancing act of events–cause and effect–tit for tat–reaping and sowing–what goes around comes around … However you phrase it, it’s the same in the end.
– Alyson Noel, Shadowland
Any thoughts ? Do you believe in KARMA ?
We are humans and we keep a separate identity from animals, because of our super brain.Surprisingly we lack basic sense…….ie. Common sense.
I believe that animals have common sense.( as you can see in the above photograph, how well they are disciplined ).
Let us be frank ,we lack this (conveniently) at times when the situation demands.
One particular answer in ‘Yahoo answers’ by LM S is interesting. He says,
“Animals are not wired like us. We internalize things and complicate things by thinking about things too much. Also, animals do not have mental disorders like people do. Animals respond really well to behavioral interventions (like food as a reward) and humans don’t because we think too much and complicate the situation more”.
Yes we unnecessarily complicate simple things and claim that we are super smart by solving these man-made ‘complicated stuff’
What is Queue ?
According to Oxford Dictionary
1.British –A line or sequence of people or vehicles awaiting their turn to be attended to or to proceed.
A list of data items, commands, etc., stored so as to be retrievable in a definite order, usually the order of insertion.
3.Archaic –A plait of hair worn at the back.
Why do we Queue ? ( Standing in the line )
Because it is polite to wait for your turn.Without Queue, there will be a total chaos, resulting in further increase in waiting time.
But still why some people jump the queue ? ( cutting the line )
May be they lack discipline or not keeping well or arrogant or they may miss the appointment in some other place, may be carrying a sick child….. I can go on and on…and surely at least 90% of the times these jumpers face wrath of others.
Psychology in forming the queue humorously explained below
Thanks for reaching this point. Any thoughts ? Feedback ?
By this time, you must have read the news that An American was killed by an isolated tribe in the sentinel Island of Andaman. Our sympathies and prayers are for the young boy and his family.
The sentinelese people resist any attempt by outsiders to reach them. They are also protected by the Indians laws where in, it is illegal to approach them, since the government wants to protect the tribe against outside diseases spreading to them and wiping out the entire tribe of 100- 200 people.( since these people have no immunity for diseases)
Andaman & Nicobar Islands is one of the union territories of India and are scattered group of islands in the bay of Bengal.
The Sentinelese people violently resist any contact with outsiders.
It is said that this young American wanted to reach this tribe to spread the Message of Jesus & Christianity and Love.
Now my point is who is correct & who is wrong ?
Is the tribe is correct in killing this young boy for reaching them (against their set of rules) ?
Is this young boy correct in reaching the tribe (against Indian laws) to spread the message since he believes in certain faith ?
Who is to Judge and what will be his or her Judgment ?
I remember the following quote….. that No body is wrong.
“Genuine tragedies in the world are not conflicts between the right & wrong. They are conflicts between two rights”. George Hegel
What are your thoughts ?
When an obnoxious and aggressive world displays its nuttiness just say to yourself, “I have
nothing to say to that.”
The world cries, “Give me your agreement or your disagreement but
whatever you do, don’t ignore me!”
Intelligently notice both outer and inner darkness then quietly ignore it. Switch your
attention back to the present moment with this powerful self-talk statement. You have
higher things to think about and darkness’s anguish is not your concern. Every “success”
darkness has is based on convincing you that its anguish is your concern. It wants you
involved with it, fighting it, trying to help it. Dare to reply instead, “I have nothing to say to
As The Daily Guru said once, “The resistance to the disturbance IS the disturbance.” Work
with this exercise this week. Notice how good you start to feel as you cease throwing fuel
on the initial disturbances – all those tiny little outer and inner fires that are very
significant until you react to them.

World Television Day is not so much a celebration of the tool, but rather the philosophy which it represents. Television represents a symbol for communication and globalization in the contemporary world. ( UN )
While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.
United Nations Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.

One day, someone showed me a
glass of water that was half full.
And he said, “Is it half full or half
empty?” So I drank the water. No
Joke apart some of my favorite quotes
1.“Whether your cup is half-full or half-empty, remind yourself there are others without one.”
2.The optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious of the rose – Kahlil Gibran
3.The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection – Thomas Paine
4.A pessimist sees only the dark side of the clouds and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides, and shrugs; an optimist doesn’t see the clouds at all – he’s walking on them – Leonard Louis Levinson
5.“The optimist sees the glass as half full, the pessimist as half empty. What I see is water that can save someone’s life.” –

Philosophy derives from Two Greek words,Philos (love) & Sophia(wisdom).
Philosophy sheds light on the causes of various situations happening in this world and when you start asking questions in the form of ‘Why’…. remember, you start thinking like a philosopher.
“An unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates
By celebrating World Philosophy Day each year, on the third Thursday of November,UNESCO underlines the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual
“Philosophy is an inspiring discipline as well as an everyday practice that can transform societies. By enabling us to discover the diversity of the intellectual currents in the world, philosophy stimulates intercultural dialogue. By awakening minds to the exercise of thinking and the reasoned confrontation of opinions, philosophy helps to build a more tolerant, more respectful society. For UNESCO, it is also the way to unleash humanity’s creative potential and generate new ideas. Philosophy creates the intellectual conditions for change, sustainable development and peace. ”
It is a day for people to share thoughts, openly explore and discuss new ideas and inspire public debate or discussion on society’s challenges.(timeanddate.com)
Do you know This day also includes
1.Clean your Refrigerator day and
2.Use less stuff day.
Oh ! My Refrigerator !
Have you ever thought of giving your fridge some official leave ? I know you wouldn’t and you dare not ,Because Fridge is one item, which never supposed to ask rest or leave.
When was the last time you cleaned your Fridge ?
How is modern life possible without refrigerator in the kitchen ? It this not part of our life ?
But strangely, all of us take this one appliance for granted. And don’t even give a glance !
But you become restless once you realize that it failed to work or you are getting an unpleasant odor ,the moment you open its door.
So maintenance of our beloved refrigerator is important
No body is sure why November 15 th is selected every year( Some say Whirlpool started this ),but one way it is good, since Thanksgiving Day is going to come shortly.
You need not wait till next November 2019 to clean again,it is good if you clean it once in 3 months.
Why should you care to clean the refrigerator ?
How to observe the day ? ( credits-national daily calender.com )
Are you going to clean your fridge after reading this post ?
If you could make a 30 second speech, what would you say?
One particular 30 second speech is inspiring.
“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the Air.
You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four Balls – Family, Health, Friends and Spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for it.”
Work efficiently during office hours and leave on time. Give the required time to your family, friends and have proper rest.
Value has a value only if its values is valued.
The above 30 second speech is by Bryan Dyson-Former CEO of Coca-cola
I felt it is really tough job to prepare instant 30 second speech.
Every one has to face some problem or other.
Describing somebody that ‘the fellow is born with silver spoon’ is utter rubbish.
Everybody has to undergo suffering.
Whether the person suffers from cancer or just mild fever,or any other reason doesn’t matter.
Whether the person is rich or poor, doesn’t matter.
Good or bad doesn’t matter.
Whether the person is pious or unholy ,doesn’t matter.
Whether the person is criminal or law-abiding doesn’t matter.
Whether the person is moral or immoral doesn’t matter.
Whether a new born suffers or a 100+ old person suffers doesn’t matter.
I can go on and on….
The point I am trying to stress is ,there is no escape from suffering once you are born.
The only difference is , some suffer more and some suffer less.
Again I don’t have an answer.
Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome. Isaac Asimov
When one suffers, the first question one puts invariable is “Oh God ! why me ?” as if one is pure (at heart on par with Almighty), and rest of the population deserves to suffer.
Remember there are others in this world, whose suffering is more than yours.
Instead, why can’t one boldly say ” why not me ?”
By saying so, Are we not gaining confidence in ourselves to face the eventuality ?
To be frank, why should one get exemption from suffering in one’s life ?
Is this not God’s way of telling us to be
Search for solutions( inventions,science etc)
Improve inner strength,
Understand the meaning of life ( philosophy),
Know the value of time.
So we are thankful to the Almighty for giving us an opportunity to survive and gain strength from sufferings.
So our thoughts should be
What are your thoughts ?
Do you agree or You do not ?
If you do not agree what is the reason ?

You are going solo ?
Then you can celebrate Single’s day, to-day and every year on 11 of November.
It is popular in China and the date 11/11 chosen because it resembles 4 solitary bare sticks
Also Number “1” resembles an individual who is alone.
Heavy discounts offered during shipping hours in China.
It looks, this concept yet to be popularised in India.
““Single doesn’t have to mean lonely. Single simply means ‘I’m resting my heart until it’s ready to love again’.” unknown
Advantages of being single:
1,Being single is being in control.2.You are always happy, because there is no occasion for you to confront. 3.The choice you make is the final,no arguments.4.More disposable income and no questions asked.5.No nagging from anybody.6.No need to share anything.7.You can flirt.8.Less time with your smartphone.9.Hide your secrets without fear.10.No need to adjust and you are independent. One can go on and on ….
Disadvantages of being single
1.When you see other people romancing, you may get depressed.2.Since you are not i a family, nobody cares you and you are not a special person to celebrate your birthdays etc.3.Somewhere down inside the feeling of loneliness haunts you.5. In India if you are a bachelor ,getting a rental accommodation is a big task.6.When you fall sick,no body is there to take care of your physical needs.7. You may develop bad habits ,since no body is there to warn you or worry about you,8.You tend to miss something all the time.9.You feel miserable.10.None is there to share your happiness whenever you are happy. And I can go on and on ….
What is your take on being single ?
My feeling is ….
If you are not happy being single, you will never be happy in a relationship. Get your own life first, then share it. unknown

‘There are two reasons for drinking.
One is ,when you are thirsty,to cure it.
The other when you are not thirsty, to prevent it ……’
With advanced science, excellent reasearch and invention of sophisticated tools,we are supposed to be confusion free.
Ironically the same science is giving us contradictory findings.
1.Laughing vs crying
It is generally said ,Laughter is the best medicine give your body booster with laughter
Now a few researchers came out with opposite thought …..ie. you must cry to ease out your
stress and even set the time frame as to how often you should cry.
For a strees free life you must cry once a week
2. More sex vs Limited sex
Too much sex disadvantages What too much sex can do to you ?
( 15 times a day ?? check the above link )
More advantages Benefits of having more sex
15 science backed reasons to have more sex
3. Tea Vs Coffee
Which drink is better for you ?.The school of thoughts for each, give us confusing signals.
The less said the better.
All of us need not be health freaks, but we are conscious about the food we eat, more so with sugar, salt and fat.Regarding these three important food constituents…..lot of confusing things are said by researchers.
Earlier it was said eating eggs and nuts are bad due to high fat.Now they say they are the best.
Earlier they said eating sweets bad for diabetics, now they say diabetics can have equivalent of sugar ( sweeteners ).God only knows any side effects they can cause.
Researchers have not spared the meat eaters.People are confused further by the terms meat’, ‘low fat meat’ etc.
What about these health trends ?
implants( better implants vs best implants ),crazy diets, diet beverages,
weight reduction pills,libido pills,alternate medicines,
Deceptive new technologies,spa therapies,oxygen kiosks,
Decisions based on friendly neighbourhood health advises,
Pantsdrunk, lagom and hygge ( scandinavian wellness trend )
7.Hot coffee vs cold brew
Earlier they said cold brew is better than Hot coffee. Now research claims opposite.
The above are some of the examples.
Dear fellow blogger, what are your thoughts ?Did you come across these types of contradictory research findings ?
Have we to really take these reasearch/friendly neighbour advises seriously ? or Do we have to continue our life style ..as it is ?
Or switch back to Ancient Wisdom ?
What is that Stanislaus trying to convey ?
He says, to be certain you have to be doubtful !
First of all if you decided to believe in something ,why should you be doubtful or apprehensive ? Are you not sure of yourself ?
Is this a contradictory statement or it is a perfect statement ?
Readers please enlighten me further with your thoughts.
In the recent discussion in blog articles about ‘Truth’ and meaning of ‘Absolute truth’ and ‘Relative truth, I realized that we forgot to discuss the role of ‘Maya’ ( illusion). Recently I came across an article in op ed of Deccan Chronicle, and thought it’s apt to understand the meaning of Maya (illusion),in our day to day life’ by sharing the same .
Before we proceed further, you should know that Sudama, is a childhood friend of Hindu Deity Lord Krishna.
One day Sudama wished to have a glimpse of God’s Maya (illusion). He had heard a lot about Maya but never understood what it was as he was always surrendered to God.
One day, he finally asked Lord Krishna, “What is Maya? What is the form of Maya? How does Maya untangle a man?” He directly sought answers of these questions from Lord Krishna and kept requesting him to show a glimpse of Maya.
Lord Krishna replied that when time comes he shall give him the answers and also show him Maya.
Then he said, “Let us go to Yamuna to take bath.” Both of them came to the banks of Yamuna to take bath. After taking bath, Lord Krishna started dressing in Yellow and in the meantime Sudama went to take a dip in water.
At the time of taking dip, Sudama felt that the river was flooded and he was being washed away in it. With great difficulty, by taking the help of a small Rock he came out of the river.
Perplexed and hungry, Sudama was roaming about and finally reached a village. There, an elephant garlanded him. People informed him that their King had died and it is their country’s rule that after the death of their king, whosoever is garlanded by the elephant would be the next king.
The coronation ceremony of Sudama was done.
After sometime, he got married and had two sons during the twelve years of his married life.
Thereafter, one day his wife passed away. Sudama started weeping in sorrow. People tried to console him.
They informed him that it was Mayapuri’s rule that he too would be sent wherever his wife went. He too would have to enter his wife’s funeral pyre.
Sudama was shell shocked to hear this. Now, he forgot mourning the demise of his wife and started weeping for himself. He said that since he was a foreigner, this rule should not be applicable to him.
When people did not listen to him and were making him sit in the pyre, he requested for permission to worship the river once last time. People allowed him to do that and sent four people to keep an eye on him.
Sudama could see death approaching him and in this fear, chanting Lord Krishna’s name, he took a dip in the river and came out crying. Just then, he saw Lord Krishna Standing and getting dressed in yellow. Lord Krishna asked Sudama as to why was he weeping.
Sudama was already stunned and when he saw Lord Krishna he was astonished too. He asked Krishna “Where did all that vanish? What all is happening? I am not able to understand anything.”
Lord Krishna said, “This is my Maya.” Maya means “forgetfulness”. Illusion, unreal, myth, ignorance, etc. are Maya. One who forgets me, the God, and thinks that the world is the only truth and is always engrossed in it, he is entrapped in Maya. Deeming the unrealistic world as real and considering Paramatma and self as to dual entities is Maya.
Despite living in the materialistic world, Maya could not touch Sudama till he was devoted or surrendered towards God but as soon as he forgot the God, he was trapped in Maya . In the same manner, worldly man forgetting God, gets entangled in Maya and spends the whole life experiencing joys and sorrows.
Despite living in the materialistic world, if we think of God at every moment (which is possible) then along with enjoying the bliss of God, we can live our worldly life too to the fullest.
Source Deccan chronicle – op ed
“In the world of relative truths and opinions, many opinions, viewpoints, possibilities and probabilities can coexist, and each can stand on its own merits in particular contexts and conditions. This is the truth of Truth. Every truth or principle is a possibility in some context, condition or situation. Sometimes you may find it worth fighting for and sometime not. Truth is an undulating wave on the surface of impermanence. You may call it by any name, but we consider it to be Maya, the deluding power of existence which hides in the play of light and shadow to create the illusion of something or the other. You will find it only in the unstable currents of life just as the sun light that reflects upon the waters of an ocean, but you cannot truly grasp its brilliance or immensity until you cross those waters and stand on the shore. ” Jayaram V.
Is truth single or multiple ?
No two individuals see the challenges and situations in the sameway.
Hence there is no one truth. But many truths.
“In a rapidly ascending balloon, were two men.One watched the earth getting farther and farther away.
One watched the stars getting nearer and nearer and nearer.”

Don’t you agree that proverbs give us that extra knowledge and wonderful wisdom ??
Or you think proverbs are nothing but impossibilities or sometimes even absurdities, outdated sometimes contradictory … in context of modern word’s thinking prowess ?
I was not getting a proper and quick answer for the above proverb from the internet search and finally I was successful and I felt one answer applies perfectly.
Your thoughts on Proverbs ?
The paradox of our time in history is
We have taller buildings, but
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less;
We buy more, but enjoy it less.
We have bigger
houses and smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgement.
More experts, yet more problems;
More medicine, but more ailments.
We drink too much,
Smoke too much,
Spend too recklessly,
Laugh too little,
Drive too fast,
Get angry too quickly,
Stay up too late,
Wake up too tired,
Read too little,
Watch television too
And pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but
reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom and hate too often.
We have learnt how to make a living,
but not a life.
We have added years to life, not life to years.
We have been all
the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We have conquered outer space, but not
We have done larger
things, but not better things.
We have cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We have split the atom, but not
We write more, but
We plan more, but
We have learnt to
rush, but not to wait.
We build more
computers to hold more information,
To produce more copies than ever,
But we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and
Big men, and small
Steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
Fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips,
One night stands,
And pills that do everything
From cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when
there is much in the show window,
And nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
And a time when you
can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.
Spend some time with
your loved ones,
Because they are
not going to be around forever.
Remember to say a kind word to
someone who looks up to you in awe,
Because that little person soon will
grow up and leave your side.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment
For someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love,
Give time to speak,
And give time to share the precious
thoughts in your mind.
And always remember that life is not measured by the number of breathes we take,
But by the moments that take our breath away.
Thank you for Listening……..
Thank you for Guidance……..
Thank you for Inspiration…..
Thank for Encouragement….
For being there……………………
And most importantly
….for being a Mentor to me
