What is this stress party?
Whether you like it or not, all of us are participants in this stress party!
“Stress is the thrash of modern life, we all generate it but if you don’t dispose of it properly, it will pile up and overtake your life” Danzae pace
Who is this uninvited guest?
Who else can be?
You know this guy, whom we all hate.
This guy is known by the name HYPERTENSION popular as HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. (High BP)
“High blood pressure, like a volcanic hot water spring, can bubble beneath the surface until it erupts, reminding us of the need for vigilance in our health.” Unknown
Still not sure? It’s OK.
I shall give another easy-to-understand quote.
“Hypertension is like a persistent house guest; it overstays its welcome and wreaks havoc on your health.” Unknown
I am talking about this guy because he is a killer, that too a silent killer.
Today this discussion is important because we are celebrating World Hypertension Day, not in excitement but to be cautious about this enemy.
This day is celebrated annually on 17 May.
On this day, we spread awareness about the serious problem of high blood pressure and the preventive aspect and possible remedies.
Why he is popular as a silent killer?
He is James bond of health conditions, stealthily wreaking havoc without making much noise.
No dramatic symptoms– I mean you don’t feel anything abnormal and you are also proud of being healthy and carry on with your usual stuff. Because he is a stealth bomber, he causes irreparable damage when he strikes.
He is sneaky– He increases your blood pressure silently over time. He is invited by you unknowingly because of your lifestyle factors (leading to stress) or genetics.
Unanticipated effects– By the time you realize that you have high blood pressure, either one or all the organs, that is your heart, brain or kidneys would have had some damage.
High BP develops gradually and over time. If you are careless, by the time you realize you would have developed one of these complications. (hence a silent killer)
- Stroke,
- Heart attack
- Kidney failure
- Vision loss
- Sexual dysfunction
High BP can not be cured.
It can be managed through lifestyle changes and medications as per your doctor’s advice.
Managing blood pressure is a lifelong commitment and a test of your willpower.
