My experience in bird photography
Unfortunately, I don’t have many bird photos.
The reason is simple.
In my part of the world, I just see crows and pigeons.
I try to click on some unknown birds near the beach, but mostly I am not successful.
The reason, they move and fly super fast.
I tried burst mode with a 250 mm lens, but no use.
What about you?
Are you interested in bird photography?
Which lens do you use?
Were you successful in capturing birds in flight?
Do you have the patience to capture bird photos?
About this bird
I am not an expert in identifying birds.
Google Lens told me that this bird is a Red-wattled Lapwing bird.
You may not be interested in knowing more about this bird. Its OK.
It has black breasts and a black throat and a red bill with a black tip.
It also sports red wattles in front of the eyes and a white patch that runs down the cheek and the body.
Its legs are long and yellow.
They feed on insects.
Why should certain birds have long legs?
Anything created by God has a purpose.
Nothing is useless and every act of God has some purpose and meaning.
The reasons for the long legs
- Long legs help them keep their feathers out of the water (wetland birds)
- They are lightweight and easy to move briskly in the mud/sludge
- They allow birds to run fast (Ostrich, emu) to escape from predators(grassland and forest birds)
- Perching-some birds use sharp talons of long legs to perch on branches
- Help in killing their prey
- Thin and long legs help in the fight for some birds
Long legs in humans
I understand that people with long legs are admired.
It’s also said that the fashion industry has influenced future generations by emphasising the fact that long legs are attractive and seductive, elevating the style of your attire.
It’s believed that long legs and short skirts are girls’ best friends.
Strange are the ways, how somebody decides the ‘beauty standards’, and why should somebody blindly follow them?
These things are possible as long as people continue to have a herd mentality.
“You can be covered and be very sexy. It’s not what you show; it’s what you have in mind, the way you cross your legs, the way you talk to people.” Carine Roitfeld
Message
“I think people are sexy when they have a sense of humour, when they are smart, when they have some sense of style, when they are kind, when they express their own opinions, when they are creative and when they have character.”
Suzzanne Vegga

Nice photo. They are pretty common across India. Perhaps as common as koel, black drongo, rose ringed parakeet, bulbuls, the Indian myna, and black kite. I’m sure you’ll be able to take many different kinds of birds within a kilometer of your house. Looking forward to them.

As interesting as always Philo! Especially with your insights into long legs for birds and the fairer sex. In a week that Mary Quant, designer of the mini skirt, died too.

Thank you Denzil for all the encouragement and support.
I am so sorry to hear the news about Mary Quant. I understand that she is famous for introducing swinging sixties culture.
