How placid is your life?
My friend, how pleasing are you both internally and externally?
Sorry to say you pretend to be calm, happy and peaceful all the time.
Nothing is far from the truth.
You can never be peaceful.
Simply accept this and move on!
“Even if there are moments during the day when all seems normal and when every action of your own and those around you seems to be unremarkable, the appearance of ordinariness is an illusion, and just below the placid surface, the world is seething.”

Just your title drew me in. I just finished listening to a Dean Koontz novel. He is great but this particular one was very disappointing. The Silent Corner. It was quite long, which I don’t mind, but the ending was completely a disappointment.

Thank you Christine.
I am glad the quote by Dean Koontz drew your attention.
About his novel ‘silent corner’, I understand that it’s a kind of sci fi with brain implants and some deep state behind crazy things and suicides happening.
What was the ending?
I am curious.

The story is about an FBI agent who is on leave after her retired Marine (or Navy) officer husband committed suicide. She finds out through some digging that suicides have been on the rise amongst people who were psychologically NOT a risk. She then is considered a Rogue agent and realizes someone is trying to get rid of her. She finds out about this man who invented this brain implant that once it gets in the body and reaches a certain temperature for a certain amount of time it sends out tendrils and makes this spiderweb like thing on the brain.

Looks like the starting lines of the story are promising.

So anyhow, she learns that part of this whole scheme is a trafficking thing where the girls are completely complacent because they are being controlled by these things. The places they are being held, sort of like “resorts” are manned by men who are also controlled but also programmed to not see who the members are, so technically the members are anonymous. The girls are eventually killed, blah blah blah. So Jane doesn’t trust anyone but finds a few allies. The one guy she trusted from the FBI gets injected by this implant and towards the end tries killing Jane. The story ends with everyone pretty much being killed except for Jane and the one guy she had helping her. Part of the story was that Jane had a son who she had staying secretly with friends because the son was threatened. But that is pretty much how it ends. She is alive, her son is alive, and they figured out what was going on. She got evidence so it could be tested.

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to provide me with the storyline.
Looks like the story dragged on and I am sure it can test one’s patience.
I am happy that the story ended with a happy note.
Thank you once again Christine.

My apologies.
I got confused with the Sculpture Saturday photo challenge.
Were you by any chance hosted this challenge earlier?

No problem. Sorry, I cannot remember who used to host the sculpture challenge either. My brain is a goner sometimes. 😉

Were you hostess for Sunshine reflections and Macro Monday at one time?
Just curious, because I got confused with Host of Sculpture Saturday.

Yes, for a little while. I started those while too new into blogging and too close together to each other. Seems like your brain is not confused any longer. 😉
