Neck strap on a tree?

I was surprised to see this neck strap tied to the branch of this tree.

It was at a height of approximately 15 feet (4.5 meters) from the ground.

So somebody has climbed the tree and tied this strap.

I saw this because I have a habit of looking up at the sky to enjoy the beauty of clouds.

What could be the reason?

In this case, I just can’t understand the reason.

What about you?

Many times, we come across a such situation and we can’t comprehend the reason and the logic behind it.

We think it’s crazy to climb a tree just to tie the strap at such a height.

We just shrug and move on.

That is the fun part of us, the humans.

We can never know what is in the mind of others, and also why they do the things they do.

We laugh and say this guy is weird!

Tree Dressing?

Are you aware of Tree Dressing Day?

Tree dressing is celebrated in different cultures all over the world.

Tree dressing day is celebrated annually in the first week of December just to remember how important are trees and how our very existence is interlinked with the trees. It’s a great way of saying ‘Thank you‘ to the trees.

What are the things that are tied/hung to a tree and why?

Many items are said to be a physical representation of prayer or wish in which help is asked from Mother Nature/Spirits of forefathers for the well-being and bringing good luck in all aspects.

We come across this tradition in many cultures

• Fallen leaves and seeds
• Colourful rags hanging on trees (clootie)
• Ribbons
• Strings to the trees near sacred places
• Crockery
• What about old boots hanging? Do you know the reason?
• In the winter season, one can see scarves around trees in public places (for the less fortunate)

(People often forget to remove all the decorations after the occasion is over and this can harm the trees or the wildlife that lives on them)

Tie a yellow ribbon around the ole oak tree

You must be aware of the song, sung by Tony Orlando & Dawn.(1973)

Tying a ribbon is said to be a symbol of support for absent or missing loved ones.

What do you call the string that you hang around your neck?

These can be anything from ID cards, badges, membership cards or key cards.

It’s known by the name LANYARD
