Monday Portrait

Handprints

We routinely come across Handprint painted on the wall as graffiti.

I am ignorant of their significance.

What do they convey?

Is there some universal message/relevance?

Can you help me understand better?

“Art really is something very difficult.

It is difficult to make, and it is sometimes difficult for the viewer to understand.

It is difficult to work out what is an art and what is not art”

Anselm Kiefer

Thank you for your visit.

Take care, my friend.

  1. My understanding here is not perfect either, BUT as I understand it, the colored hand prints were used generally as a symbol of support, caring, etc… Nowadays, the Autism support movement uses it / them as their symbol.

Then, of course, there’s the red or bloody hand print used to blame or convey guilt…
