Mirror mirror on the wall, I am the prettiest of all!

Mosquito

In the image, the mosquito was seen enjoying its beauty in the mirror.

Who doesn’t admire their beauty when a mirror is available?

This is a culex mosquito.

When somebody annoys you

No need to get upset.

“When you really want to slap someone, do it and say mosquito”  unknown

How harmful are mosquitoes?

The mosquito is the most dangerous creature in the world, carrying diseases and killing millions of people annually.

Deadly Diseases caused by mosquitoes

  • Malaria ( World Malaria day is celebrated on April 25 )
  • Filariasis
  • Dengue
  • Zika
  • Encephalitis
  • Chikungunya
  • West Nile
  • Yellow fever

Destroying mosquitoes cause any ecological disaster?

Is it not worth destroying the population?

It’s the female mosquitoes that need human blood to sustain their life cycle.

Male mosquitoes don’t need human blood, instead, they survive on flower nectar. (strictly vegetarian!)

Why can’t we eliminate the mosquito population once and for all?

Can the world survive without mosquitoes?

Here is the problem

Entomologists say that there is a downside to the elimination of mosquitoes.

They claim that it can lead to undesirable side effects, since

  • Mosquitoes act as pollinators since they feed on nectar
  • They are also a food source for birds and dragonflies, while larvae of mosquitoes are consumed by fish and frogs
  • Mosquitoes when they die or are eaten and excreted, decompose and are thus a source of food for algae and microbes. And these microbes/algae in turn eaten by mosquito larvae. So it is a full circle

So in one way, humans are disrupting the food chain, by eliminating mosquitoes and who knows it may be an open invitation to another type of self-destruction, even destroying the entire human race!!

So what is the solution?’

There is no solution. You have to live with it. Don’t dare intervene!

Almighty always takes care and He maintains the balance by the destruction of some and the creation of some. Just leave it to Mother Nature. (His way of balancing the ecosystem)

Because we know nothing and tampering with the ecosystem is suicidal.

You must be aware of ‘Interdependency’.

“Life doesn’t make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all”

Erik H. Erikson

Message

The Three Laws of Ecology:
First Law:  All forms of life are interdependent and interrelated.
When one is disturbed or harmed, all are disturbed or harmed.

Second Law:  The stability of ecosystems is dependent upon their diversity.
Greater diversity means more stability.
Eliminating some life forms reduces stability of the whole ecosphere.

Third Law:  We must conserve natural resources.
