What is a shot or shooter?

A shot or shooter is a small quantity of spirit/mixed drink, consumed quickly in a gulp.

I think it’s a kind of starter before the consumption of large quantities of liquor.

The drinkware is made of up either glass or copper.

Any celebration is incomplete without these shots.

Small or large?

In India, a shot is referred to as a ‘peg’ and measured as small/single or large/double.

The small shot measures 30 ml (1 Oz) and the large shot measures 120 ml (2 Oz).

I am not aware how things are in your country.

Nowadays one comes across these shot glasses with a variety of designs. People also collect these as souvenirs.

Which is best for a shot?

Frankly, majority of the people don’t know what to order at a bar.

They take the help of a bartender.

Alcohol connoisseurs claim that tequila or vodka or Gin can do the trick and ultimately it’s left to the user whether to select absinthe, whisky or rum.

If you are not sure, you can remember certain fancy names like

• Kamikaze shot
• Three wise men shot
• Red-headed slut
• Dirty girl scout
• Jager bomb
• Mind eraser
• Motor oil
• Irish car bomber
• Kick Ass shots

I can go on…

Don’t ask me who invented these names.

Marketing strategy

Resto bars lure the customer with a ‘Happy hour scheme’ and we are aware that it’s a marketing policy because there are fools like you and me. The bartender puts plenty of ice cubes rather than real alcohol.

Alcohol taste-Why majority don’t like the taste of alcohol though they don’t mind consuming the same?

The majority make funny faces as they gulp the alcohol.

This is because the drink is not tasty and bitter and can also be pungent.

Some said that the feeling and the smell are nasty and disgusting.

Some close their nose and consume the same.

Why then people are getting used to this acquired taste?

It’s not a million-dollar question. It’s simply known as addiction.

Is it a must that one should take alcohol?

Who said so?

But your society expects you to be like a man.

In our college days, those who don’t consume liquor were discriminated against and insulted and treated as untouchables.

It’s the peer pressure combined with our other problems leading to addiction.

Is it possible to stop drinking alcohol once and for all?

It depends on the intensity of your thirst towards alcohol.
