Flights of fancy
Definition of flight of fancy/imagination/fantasy
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary
An idea, story, etc., that shows great imagination but is very unlikely to be true or practical.
Arthur’s seat
It’s the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland and one can have a 360° view of the City.
Arthur’s seat is a hill with a height of 822ft (251m), said to be around 350 million years old. Said to have formed from a volcano.
Nobody knows how the hill derived its name.
The hump of Arthurs’s seat dominates the Edinburgh skyline.
Now Open your gift of imagination!
Have you closely observed the hill and its hump in the image above?
Start imagining the shape of the hill.
Imagine that you are standing on the left side of the hill and just towards its back.
Don’t you agree with me that the shape resembles that of a lion in a sitting position with its head raised?
This view substantiates the perception that Arthur’s seat resembles the shape of a lion couchant (In the couchant position-Lion is lying down, but with head raised; the lion is awake)
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.
For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution”
Albert Einstein
Always in my dreams, I am flying
90% of my dreams are just about flying.
I don’t know why I get such dreams.
In this dream, I have the power… just circle myself and lo…I start ascending and soon I reach the clouds,
I even avoid the obstacles like power lines etc. and people look at me with awe! Ha-ha
Superman indeed!!
The feeling is joyful indeed!
“Whenever I dream about flying, it’s the best feeling in the world” Kate Mara
Dog’s Face?
“Imagination is usually regarded as a synonym for the unreal… Indeed, the power of imagination makes us infinite.”
John Muir

In the image above, I felt I am seeing a dog’s face with its eye and black nose/mouth.
This part is actually a handle of the lamp that almost got rusted.
Thank you for your visit.
Take care, my friend.
Namaste 🙏🙏🙏

You are so lucky! I rarely have flying dreams. It really is the best. Maybe someday we will meet one another up in the clouds?

Haha
I had many smiles.
Sure. Why not?
We will meet up in the clouds soon and have a cup of tea or coffee.
Which do you prefer?

Your lion reminded me that I get teased a lot when I describe the shapes of clouds and terrain that look to me like an animal or person. I’d have never noticed the resemblance had you not diagrammed it.

Agree with you John.
People too tease me when I say so and so resembles something.
There is name given for this kind of imagination….Pareidolia.

Pareidolia: I had that word stuck somewhere in the back of my brain, but I couldn’t pull it out. I tried searching with Google, but couldn’t find enough of a definition for it to remind me of the word I was looking for.

Thank you John.
I even posted about pareidolia sometime back.
I have to check that post and images and the URL.

I knew I’d seen the term somewhere recently. I’m sure that’s where it was.

Insightful post. Excellent. Upon our last, early arrival in Edinburgh, m’lady and I decided to hike up Arthur’s Seat to acclimate and lose some jet lag. Woof! We got acclimated!!

It was fun to take a closer look at the photos with your descriptions. Definitely a lion. The dog..I had to convince myself of that one. I do find it funny you dream about flying. Maybe you should try one of those paragliders. I certainly wold NOT join you as I would be too afraid. Nice pictures.

It’s a good idea to join paragliders to experience in real life.
Thank you Donna for your observation.

Interesting. I used to dream about flying when i was young. Very often. But, I never could get enough height to leave the room. Always the ceiling touching my back. Once I had finished my studies and started working, I stopped dreaming of flying. I was free.
Love your take on and explanations – now I got a word for seing faces in things too…
