Newspaper reading used to be a joy
In earlier days, newspaper reading was a pleasure.
Gone are the days when It used to be a memorable habit in every household.
Newspaper reading used to be an important document in our daily lives.
Morning hours are incomplete if one fails to read at least the headlines.
Our ancestors used to claim that reading English newspapers is the best way for people whose first language is not English, to master the language.
Sadly things are different now
In the present day of digitalisation, I doubt not many people read newspapers.
Only older generation people are still sticking to this habit.
Reading has become an endangered habit.
Social media and TV news are enough now.
Both social media and TV are sensationalizing things with ‘Breaking News’ every minute, such that people are vexed and the very meaning and purpose of ‘breaking news are lost.
Many said they are sickened by the constant flow of ‘Breaking News’.
People are turning lazy, vocabulary skills are lost and even for correct spelling either they have to google or depend on the auto-correct function of the keyboard.
What about fake news?
I am coming to this.
The worst thing to happen is the spread of ‘fake news (examples- climate change is rubbish, the earth being flat, the moon landing is a fraud, all religions are fake etc. etc) and unfortunately, hatred is ruling the world since it can spread like wildfire.
Explained. What is false news(fake news)?
I remember the following quote, attributed to Mark Twain. Maybe it’s still applicable!
“If you don’t read the newspapers, you are uninformed. If you do read them, you are misinformed”
Are newspapers still relevant?
I don’t know.
What are your thoughts?
“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspaper”
Thank you for your visit.
Take care, my friend.
