The happy family is a myth for many-Carolyn Spring

Childhood

Do you agree with the Carolyn Spring quote?

Sure, we come across incidents where children are deprived of so many things.

“Like stars are to the sky, so are the children to our world. They deserve to shine!”

Chinonye J. Chidolue

But then society is what we are made of

“No human being should be maltreated under any circumstances.

We are all wonderful creations of God.

May we affectionately love one another.”

Lailah Gifty Akita

  1. I have to agree with the initial quote but I think it also depends on how we define happy and what context we are considering. At the time children may be being treated badly, maybe even abused, but if they don’t have anything to compare against they may believe they’re happy. As an adult you can reflect back and realise while it felt OK, happy even as a child, its now tainted with understanding that things weren’t as they ought to have been. Happy family isn’t quite so clear cut 🤔

    1. True.
Happiness means different things to different people.
I guess the quote is meant in general.
The general feeling is no family is happy for one reason or other.
The children are the worst sufferers.
In this world comparisons are readily available.
For everything there is an opposite.
Present day kids are intelligent enough to know the difference.
Thank you Brenda for your thoughts.
