It’s a savoury crunchy snack popular in the Southern Indian States.
Murukku in Tamil means twisted referring to its shape.
In the Telugu language, it’s known as Janthukulu.
Though the snack is crunchy, it’s very hard and not recommended for people with tooth or gum problems.
It’s made up of black lentils and rice.
