Just like the beauty in the above image- sometimes we get confused at a particular stage of our life as the transition occurs.
What is that transition period called in humans?
I think it’s called adolescence.
I understand that adolescence is divided into three stages.
- Early adolescence -11 to 14 yrs.
- Mid adolescence – 15 to 17 yrs.
- Later adolescence- 18-21 yrs.
As we grow into full-fledged adults, we are supposed to acquire intellectual, social and most importantly emotional aspects of our life.
These things apart from the physical growth add to our ability to face this cruel world.
But as a kid what are your thoughts?
You are sad because you compare with adults all the time.
No freedom, constantly being spied on by parents, frequently harassed by parents and teachers, bullied by friends, helplessness at every stage, begging parents for pocket money, always criticised by everybody and anybody regarding whatever you do, you have even labelled a rebel…the list is long.
As a kid, you wish to grow fast become an adult and teach a lesson or two to the world. Is it not so?
But that moment of your childhood, do you ever realize the struggle that an adult undergoes?
One grandson (8 yrs) said that as an adult he can have a Netflix connection, own a mobile phone, have a social media account. have enough pocket money, buy all the stuff he wishes to buy and can lead a happy life because nobody can question him being an adult. Freedom at its best!
As a kid please enjoy your childhood, which you can never get back
Sadly, no child realises this even if we the adults try to explain.
“When we are children, we seldom think of the future. This innocence leaves us free to enjoy ourselves as few adults can. The day we fret about the future is the day we leave our childhood behind.”
Patrick Rothfuss
As an adult your thoughts?
My friend there is nothing I can tell. You know it. One simple example I can give you.
Many have thrown tantrums and rage attacks recently due to Covid. And there were a lot of meltdowns. Depression and emotional outbursts are daily things.
Routine life has become a permanent struggling chapter.
Don’t you feel sad being an adult?
What are Dr Seuss’s thoughts?
“Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them”
Message
“We spend our whole childhood wanting to grow up faster. But we spend our whole adult life, wanting to go back to the simplicity of being a kid again” Unknown
Question to you
Be frank.
Which part of your life you would love to cherish?
Childhood, adolescence or adulthood? And why?
Thank you for your visit.
Take care, my friend.
