CBWC- Animals- farm or Wild

“The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?” Sir David Attenborough

“We are not the only animal that mourns; apes do, and elephants, and dogs. Yet we are the only one that tortures” Geraldine Brooks

This image is taken in the zoo.

You can see the chain limiting the movements of the guy’s hind leg.

What are your thoughts, my friend?

“We cut the throat of a calf and hang it up by the heels to bleed to death so that our veal cutlet may be white; we nail geese to a board and cram them with food because we like the taste of liver disease; we tear birds to pieces to decorate our women’s hats; we mutilate domestic animals for no reason at all except to follow an instinctively cruel fashion; and we connive at the most abominable tortures in the hope of discovering some magical cure for our own diseases by them” George Bernard Shaw

Cow and calf

“Cows are exceptionally gentle, loving beings who form strong bonds with their family and friends. Separating any mother from her child, as is the routine practice within the dairy industry, inflicts upon both a cruelty beyond words”   Mango Wodzak

All that humans do is delegate a day for ‘cow appreciation day’ celebrated annually on the 2nd Tuesday of July.

Food for thought

“Baby rats need rat milk, baby cats need cat milk, baby dogs need dog milk, baby humans need human milk, baby cows need cow milk, baby chimps need chimp milk. Would anyone believe it if someone claimed adult giraffes need elephant milk? or adult horses need squirrel milk? or adult possums need goat milk? or adult humans need cow milk? oh, wait, no, that last one makes total sense… NOT” Mango Wodzak

Thank you for your visit.

Take care, my friend.

Namaste 🙏🙏🙏

  1. It is particularly odd, that last thing. I can’t even imagine how shocked most folk would be if they were to wander into their supermarket and find human milk on offer. It’s almost as bizarre as presenting milk in plastic bottles instead of easily recyclable glass ones.

    We’re a weird lot.

(Me, I’m trying my best to wean myself off cow’s milk and onto hemp milk instead. As the taste is different, I’m finding it difficult; I put it down to decades of habituation to the bovine variety. But I shall persevere!)

  2. After having taken a safari in Tanzania, I have not felt the same way about zoos as I did before. What is being done to that elephant is criminal! Elephants are social creatures and become depressed without companionship. The Brookfield Zoo (Chicago area), I am happy to say, has gotten rid of their last elephant, mindful that elephants are unhappy alone. Many zoo animals, especially those in smaller zoos where their territory is restricted, develop “zoochosis.” Cheetahs that beat a path as they walk around the perimeter of their enclosures, clearly are suffering from zoochosis. Different animals display a variety of unnatural behaviors when cooped up in zoos. However, it is true that zoo personnel have become more sensitive to the animals’ needs and they do help keep some species from extinction.
