Always wonder what makes the INDIVIDUAL put a hand on others’ shoulders!
What is the feeling that makes one do like this?
Does this indicate the closeness or some comfort level or
A kind of assurance….I am not sure.
I am curious whether this kind of behaviour is seen in Western countries.
Westerners can give more insight into this aspect of human behaviour.

The hand-holding and arms around shoulders that happens in places like India and Arab countries doesn’t happen in North America. Females might occasionally friendly-walk, but if men were seen doing so, people would probably assume they were in a romantic relationship.

Thank you Ashley for clearing my doubts.
I understand better now about the cultural differences and the meaning that conveys.

Ashley took the words out of my mouth, so to speak. Norms of proximity and touch are quite different in North America. If by Western countries, you also mean Europe, however, norms vary there from one culture to another.

I included Europe also.
Now I understand that things are different between North America and Europe.
Thank you Dolly.
