The word ADDICTION sends jitters down the spines.
I know you started thinking of drugs, smoking, alcohol, gambling, sex, pornography, food, video games…..and the list goes on.
The human being is not immune to ‘weakness’.
The greatness lies in making the weakness into positive Strength.
Have we to think of addiction only in a negative term?
Do you agree?
“I admire addicts. In a world where everybody is waiting for some blind, random disaster or some sudden disease, the addict has the comfort of knowing what will most likely wait for him down the road. He’s taken some control over his ultimate fate, and his addiction keeps the cause of his death from being a total surprise” Chuck Palahniuk
Can’t we have ‘positive addiction’?
Example- People in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, may indulge in having
- Regular exercises
- consumption of water
- Taking up the job, you are passionate
- Spending more family time
- Regular sex
Positive addiction is supposed to help us with
- Good health
- Family bond
- Appreciation of the magnanimity of the Almighty
- Improve the wisdom and spirituality, above all
- Bring out the ‘Feel good factor
Since it’s a positive addiction, can one be allowed to overdo it to attain perfectionism?
I don’t know.
My guess is, one can have ‘positive addiction’ without the component of ‘Negative consequences‘
“Understanding the difference between healthy striving and perfectionism is critical to laying down the shield and picking up your life. Research shows that perfectionism hampers success. In fact, it’s often the path to depression, anxiety, addiction, and life paralysis” Brené Brown
So back to square one!!
Finally a question to the readers….
Can you name ‘healthy behaviour’ as ‘Positive Addiction’?
Is not ‘positive addiction’ contradicting the very definition of addiction?
We can’t have a positive brain disorder right?
Please enlighten me further.

Take care, my friend.
