‘Public art encompasses any form of art you see in a public place, large or small, statues, murals, graffiti, gardens, parks, etc. The art should be visible from streets, sidewalks or outdoor public places’. PPAC

The above statue is that of Garuda, the vehicle mount of Hindu God Vishnu known as the ‘preserver’ within the Trimurti.
Garuda is a deity in the form of half man and half bird.
This statue is located in Alipiri, the pathway leading to the shrine of Tirumala, where the holy temple of Lord Venkateshwara is located.

What an interesting statue, and very beautiful. Birds must be respected as being very wise, like our wise old ow. Great choice for this week, Philo.

Thank you Marsha for your observation about birds.
In Hindu religion, it’s interesting to note that many non human creatures are given importance and linked to a particular God in the form of Vahana (Animal vehicle) thus respected a lot.

Just like Hindu religion having’ animal rights’ other faiths must be having similar sentiments.
