Are cobwebs & Spiderwebs the same?
My friend because of you I am improving a lot. Thank you.
Your intelligent questions make me think and think, benefitting all of us.
Cobwebs and spider webs are not the same my friend.
Cobwebs are abandoned spider webs usually covered with dirt and dust.
Most of the time we don’t see a spider.
Spiders have abandoned their homes as they move to greener pastures.
Joke about cobweb
“Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps and hornets break through” Jonathan Swift
Why do they leave the beautifully designed home?
My guess is the spider forgets the web for two reasons.
- When no food is available or
- The silk thread becomes weak due to wear & tear, also added dust makes it heavy over time unsuitable to catch the prey.
Since nobody is owning this home the silky sticky strands attract dirt and dust resulting in the messy shape of the web.
The web may appear tangled.
Is a messy web an indication of an abandoned spider web?
Not necessarily my friend.
There are two species of spiders that make their web messed up (just like some of us maintaining our rooms). I don’t know the reason. Maybe they copy certain humans.
Theridiidae spiders and daddy long leg spiders are said to produce a messy web (Disorganised) resembling cobwebs unlike the rest of the spider species that produce a well-patterned web.
You can see these spiders happily living in these webs.
The rest of the spiders make designer webs, that make humans burn with jealousy.
Do cobwebs teach us anything?
My friend, Mother Nature is ready to teach you at every stage of your life if only you are willing to listen, understand and learn.
Cobwebs are a great way to remind us that it’s time to clean those corners of your room and the sides of the walls. If you have a ceiling fan and you never lifted your head, now just look up and see the tangles of dirt.
Cobwebs in your room is an indication that you are a dirty creature.
The term ‘spider web’ is applied to the web when it’s still in use and the spider can be spotted in the web.
In the image below-You can see the spider in the centre.
This is an Orb Spider web.
Thank you for visiting my site.
Take care, my friend.
