Hello friend, the topic of my post is about ‘stone’
Oh! I’m not talking about the definition of stones, the different types of stones, or the distinctions between stones, rocks, boulders, hills, and mountains.
I’m not even going to mention the rare gemstones.
My subject is this one-of-a-kind stone
This stone is not a too happy stone to be enjoyed or possessed.
Any one of you could be the proud owner of this stone, knowingly or unknowingly.
You must be wondering what I am about to say!
I am talking about stones that can form in your body and cause trouble to you directly and to your near and dear ones indirectly.
Do you know where in your body stones can form?
Go through the following list
- Kidneys & urinary bladder
- Gall bladder
- Blood vessels (veins)
- Bowels (fecoliths/stones in diverticula)
How to know whether you are harbouring stones or not?
As far as the tonsils and nose are concerned it is easy to know yourself or by a simple examination by the specialist concerned.
The rest of the organs require minimum ultrasonography study to know the presence or absence of stones.
For bowel assessment, Ultrasonography is not much help and CT and MRI can pick up either the stones or deposits of calcium in organs or vessels.
What is the example I am providing?
I am just providing one example of stone in the gall bladder and how it looks in appearance.
Below is the Ultrasound image of the gall bladder. If you notice, the gall bladder (GB) looks black and inside this blackness, you can observe a white shining structure…and that is the stone in the gall bladder.
Why should you worry about these stones?
My friend the answer to this question is extensive and the symptoms from these stones depend on their location in the organ, its size and finally the organ involved.
I can only tell you that they are unwanted, more of a nuisance and sometimes can cause emergencies.
I advise you to consult your family physician in case you are diagnosed to have stones in your body.
What is the reason for the stone formation?
My friend, the explanation is too long.
The stone formation in these organs can have different reasons.
I can add that diet, lifestyle, some medical conditions, supplements even medications and obesity are said to be some of the causes.
I request you to consult your family physician.
