Nuance implies a very slight difference in ✔appearance, ✔meaning or ✔sound.
It’s subtle difference.
As you notice in the photo below, there is subtle difference in blue colour of the sea, the island and the sky with clouds.
Let us talk about nuance in terms of ‘meaning’
Human beings suffer from a communication gap because there is likely to be a subtle element of difference as to what you are saying and the other person’s perception of what you meant.
Perfect nuance is difficult especially when you are translating.
Why there is a lack of proper communication between you and others?
An example being even if you tell a correct thing to your wife, friend or superior…there is a chance that they may think it’s wrong.
My friend, humans are complex and we are experts in deriving things from individual perceptions. Though there are many reasons for ‘communication gap’, ‘perceptions’ take the upper hand.
“I stopped explaining myself when I realised people only understand from their level of perception” Unknown
Why such things happen commonly?
I guess it’s because of the language we use (invariably the languages are made such that it’s extremely difficult to understand in true grammatical sense).
Even with the mother tongue, sometimes it’s difficult to convey what exactly you meant to say.
“It’s impossible to say a thing exactly the way it was, because of what you say can never be exact, you always have to leave something out, there are too many parts, sides, crosscurrents, nuances; too many gestures, which could mean this or that, too many shapes which can never be fully described, too many flavours, in the air or on the tongue, half-colours, too many” Margaret Atwood
Human’s perception of things has no match!
“There are some people who could hear you speak a thousand words, and still not understand you. And there are others who will understand without you even speaking a word” Unknown
