Shiny

“Mosquitoes bite you as if they are in some kind of love with you”. M.F. Moonzajer

In the photo above two things catch your attention.

  1. The shining water rainwater droplet on the flower bud, which almost going to drop.
  2. The shining design of the antenna & body of the mosquito.

✔Shining water droplet

Photography of water droplets is an interesting topic.

It’s the refraction of the image through the water droplet that becomes more interesting.

The appearance of the subject resembles that of a fisheye lens view and is similar to the image in lens ball photography except the image is upside down.

“True joy of nature is when every drop of water shines like a pearl”  Anamika Mishra

✔The shining antenna of the mosquito

Of course, you all know about the insect’s Antenna.

Antennae are used to feel, smell and often hear.

The antennae of the male mosquitoes are bushy as in the photo above unlike the less hairy antennae of females.

You know pretty well that mosquitoes are not friendly insects.

Diseases caused by mosquitoes

  • Malaria ( World Malaria Day is celebrated on April 25 )
  • Filariasis
  • Dengue
  • Zika
  • Encephalitis
  • Chikungunya
  • West Nile
  • Yellow fever

Which is more dangerous-Male mosquito or Female mosquito?

My friend, female mosquitoes are dangerous.

Male mosquitoes don’t need blood for survival. They survive on flower nectar.

We know that human blood tastes ‘salty’ but for the Female mosquitoes, it’s a ‘sweet candy’!

Some Humor quotes on Mosquito

“When you really want to slap someone, do it and say mosquito”  unknown

“If only mosquitoes sucked fat instead of blood”  unknown

“Mosquitoes are like family: they are annoying, but they carry your blood” Unknown

Which is the most hurtful bite?

You don’t believe me if I say…

It’s our hurtful words, my friend!

  1. Wonderful macro! I didn’t know about the male’s feathery antennae – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a male mosquito. But then, it’s the females I notice because they love to suck my blood!
