Broken Wing

“The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.” Rabindranath Tagore

I took this shot when the butterfly was resting on the ground.

I was wondering why it should rest on the ground instead of flying, because just before I saw it moving from one flower to another in the garden.

I realised that half of its right-wing is torn. What could have been the reason? I don’t know. Maybe a close shave with a spider or lizard.

Maybe it’s getting tired too quickly because of less ‘wing power’…I am not sure.

What does broken wing signify?

Broken wing symbolises a person who is hurt badly and emotionally.

Said to be common among people who are highly sensitive.

Still, all is not lost. One can make sincere efforts to ‘fly’ again and at some stage, the unseen power lifts you high and things become easy to fly again.

This also made me recollect the friendship quote.

“Friendship is like a butterfly’s wing. Once it is torn, it may never fly again” Unknown

No surprise majority of us become introverts as we lose faith in the friendship over time.

Thank you.
