The six-word Mantra ‘Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum’ is important in Tibet, recited by the Buddhists.
According to H.H DALAI LAMA, this Mantra has the power to transform your impure body, speech and mind into pure mind, body and speech of Buddha
Speaking the mantra aloud or silently, spinning prayer wheels with the mantra, and carving the mantra into stones are the usual practices. Source-Balilivingimports.com
The actual translation from Sanskrit to English is difficult since the meaning of the mantra can not be conveyed fully. Roughly it translates into
“Hail the jewel in the Lotus”
Om Cleanses away the pride.Om helps to cultivate kindness & Generosity.
Ma-Ni It is associated with dissolving jealousy and one can escape attachment to worldly pleasures.
Pad-Me this syllable dissolves our attachments to many prejudices, also one comes out of the habit os possessiveness.
Hum this syllable helps our feelings from falling prey to aggression & hatred.
