Rangoli is an art form,in which patterns are created on the floor.
Coloured rice or flower petals are used.
Rangoli designs can be simple to elaborate.
It is generally drawn at the entrance of the house.
The tradition is that Rangoli brings good luck and it is drawn early in the morning at the entrance point of the house.
And the best day of your life
“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own,
No apologies. No excuses,
No one to lean on, rely on or blame.
The gift is yours-
It’s an amazing journey.
And you alone are responsible for the quality of it.
This is the day your life really begins”

🙂 This looks somewhat similar to the sand mandala that is created by the Tibetan Buddhist monks.

Thank you Renard.
I think both Rangoli and Mandala are based onn same principles.
My feeling is Rangoli based on Hindu Scripture while Mandala is Of Buddhist origin.

Thank you Lisa.
Since it has got religious belief.( Hindus)
The very Rangoli, invokes welcome sign to deities who brings positive energies, and the pleased deities grant virtues to the inhabitants.
Another reason… rice being component of the Rangoli attracts insects like ants and thus these creatures need not go hungry.
And also presence of Rangoli gives a feeling of good times.
This practice is imbibed in the culture.

Wow, I love this! Most folks in this country kill insects. Such a different attitude toward “other” living beings. Thanks for the explanation, Doc. 🌞
