Found in the neighborhood

This post is part of Ann Christine’s LAPC #123 – Found in the neighborhood

In this photo challenge, Ann-Christine wants us to share photos of people, places, and things found in the neighborhood

OK.Let me start.

My first encounter was this guy, what an amazing creature!

It’s commonly known as Oriental Garden Lizard. Like chameleons, they can move each of their eyes in different directions.

This lizard can change the color of the body depending upon whether it is frightened or in response to temperature changes

Oriental Garden Lizard

“Have patience like lizard, it only moves when necessary and catches its prey, Wait for the right time! Pranjal Kumar

Do you know that Lizards are worshipped in some temples in India?

In Varadaraja Temple in Kancheepuram(Tamil Nadu), in India, there is a place adjacent to the Sanctum Sanctorum, where the images of Gold & Silver lizards are found on the ceiling.

A visit to the temple is complete only when the devotees touch the Images. The belief is that one gets cured of the curses.

Next, I visited a nearby park with a children’s playground, I realized that it’s empty. No kids around, not even elders.

So sad! How Covid is changing the life pattern!

Empty Playground

“Children have a full-time occupation. It’s called play! Let them be occupied by it from their early years until their twilight years” unknown

As I walked further down, I noticed this huge tree with a Nail(screw) in its trunk.

Can you hammer a nail into the tree?

“When you have a hammer in hand, everything around you starts looking like a nail” unknown

It’s common to find posters & flexes nailed on the tree trunks for free advertisements.

What happens if nails are hammered in a tree trunk?

When nails are inserted in a tree trunk, channels taking water to branches are damaged, which affects its growth and the tree dies a slow painful death ultimately.

As I continued my walk I came across this gentleman busy grooming himself.

What do you mean by ‘Grooming’?

Everybody loves to appear pleasing and wants to look beautiful and appear handsome. Nothing wrong with it.

Are you aware of ‘Grooming of different kind’ ?

In this grooming of ‘different kind’ your lips, eyes, slim figure, poise and hair can all look fantastic without grooming!!!

“For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone ” Sam Levenson

————————————————————————————————-

By now I started feeling hungry and wished to grab some light breakfast and to my surprise, I found the eatery closed.

Disappointed I returned home.

“Sorry…We are closed.See you at some other unknown time”

Thank you.

Namaste🙏🙏🙏

  1. An interesting neighbourhood – and I love lizards. I always wanted to have one as a pet when I was a child… Good that you informed about what happens if you insert a metal thing into a tree – many people don’t know about this. Just loved the Sam Levenson quote – I had never heard that before. Clever. Sorry about your not getting any food though;-(

    1. Thank You Ann Christine.
Glad to note that you love lizards, the most misunderstood creatures and killed without reasoning.
Happy to note that you liked Sam Levenson’s quote.I felt this quote is extraordinary in respect to ‘grooming’ oneself.
These covid days…one is not sure about the eateries or restaurants being open.
