Winter is coming

If you are a fan of GOT ( Game of Thrones), you are aware of the motto of House of Starks ……’Winter is coming’

The very statement by anybody in the serial sends shivers downs the spine. The thought of white walkers and their ‘Night King’ is scaring and intimidating.

What is the F E A R ?

Fear is being afraid of somebody or something or doing something. It’s an unpleasant feeling.

Fear is universal and an important response for survival. But we should not allow fear to control us.

The only way to have courage is to understand fear.

Fear can range from phobias to anything …..to even death!

Do you know?

“Fears are the stories we tell to ourselves”

Fear works from inside. You are the creator of fear and you alone can face the fear and overcome it.

Are you aware of ‘Nothing to fear Day’?

‘Nothing to fear day’ is celebrated on 27 th May every year.

This day was chosen because on this day in 1941 president Franklin D Roosevelt gave a speech where he said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”

The day is to remind you of the harmful effect of fear on our health and also an opportunity to figure out how best to face the fear in our daily routine.

Take home message

“Having courage doesn’t mean that we are unafraid. Having courage and showing courage mean we face our fears. We are able to say I have fallen, but I will get up”  Maya Angelou

Thank you.

  1. In not familiar with the Game of Thrones (other than to know of its existence) and I didn’t know that there was a Nothing to Fear Day – what a great idea! Thank you educating me.
Unfortunately, some fears are rooted in childhood experiences and are seated so deeply in our subconscious that they cannot be eliminated without professional help.
    Always appreciate Maya Angelou quotes!

    1. Thank you Dolly
Both Game of thrones & Harry Potter fans were frenzy when their favorite serial/movie was being played on TV/theatres.

And the concept of ‘Nothing to fear day’ is interesting.I don’t know who started the event.

Agree about our childhood experiences, which influence our thinking power. And adults too to take the responsibility for being the reason for negative childhood memories.

      1. I am a Harry Potter fan myself, as it first came out when my younger son was a teenager and we read and watched it together. I know was the Game of Thrones is but I was never interested in it to read or watch it.
I like the quote, dear Philo!
