What is Solitude?
Cambridge Dictionary defines Solitude as
“The situation of being alone without other people”
The person in solitude feels at peace and experiences pleasantness at home
Though physically you are alone, mentally you are not. At this point you are getting inspiration for your plans, ambitions, realizing your strengths and weakness, etc.
You can listen to the voice of your conscience.
Is Solitude necessary in ones’ life?
My answer is ‘yes’
It’s because of the hustle and bustle of the life you are leading making one sick. Let us accept this fact.
Did the corona pandemic allow one to enjoy Solitude?
Of course my friend. It’s a God-given opportunity and all of us have realized the meaning and purpose of our life.
What are the places you can seek solitude?
My dear friend, you don’t need to go to Himalayas or Arctic or exotic locales.
There is no need to look for top locations in foreign countries or your country.
Just search for quiet locations next to you,in your location.
Some examples
- If you have seashore or river banks or even your terrace( watching the night sky) are enough.
- You can take a long walk.
- Sitting in the balcony
- Relaxing in the garden
- Or if you are lucky just watch kids playing and look into their eyes and the energy vibrations from the kids.
- Simply switch off your online activity.
Each individual is unique and one can always decide what exactly brings the solitude moment and enjoy the pleasantness accordingly.
“You don’t need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Don’t even listen, simply wait, be quiet still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice. It will roll in ecstasy at your feet” Franz Kafka
Are Solitude & Loneliness the same ?
No, my friend. They are the opposite.
“Loneliness expresses the pain of being alone and solitude expresses the glory of being alone” Paul Tillich
Loneliness is a state of sadness. One has no company and alone. It’s a kind of feeling lonely though you are surrounded by the people you love. It’s a negative emotion.
Solitude on the other hand is a positive emotion. Here you enjoy having a quiet time. Here you are getting enough time to retrospect and energize yourself accordingly.
Take home message
