Greatness of Emptiness

Empty cafe

Are you scared my friend ?

Closure of shops, lock downs, wiring of borders, travel restrictions, social distancing, isolation, quarantines, voluntary curfews etc etc, these are the various measures undertaken to contain spread of corona virus.

What has  happened to all those…..the bustling Famous temples, busiest airports, popular streets, morning rush, fairgrounds, operas, protests world wide, and those those iconic squares ?

Everywhere one can see ghost towns, empty beaches, empty streets, empty restaurants, and vast majority of the empty public spaces which are built on a purpose to hold massive number of people.

What is common to all these situations ?

My friend by now you know……… it’s the ‘EMPTINESS’

What’s happening now ?

Strangely one can hear the sound of silence.

No one dare disturb the sound of silence…  Paul Simon

And eerie stillness all around.

As we think much deeper one thing becomes clear.

“Emptiness is where the true value lies”   Tao Ti Ching

What is that he is trying to tell ?

Emptiness & Fullness are yang & yin.

By seeing these kinds of physically empty scenario, you realize the true value of the empty space. So in life there has to be ’emptiness’ in order to appreciate ‘fullness’

Emptiness brings awareness of your existence,

Because there is existence of emptiness, you are appreciating your existence.

“We mould clay into a pot,
but it is the emptiness inside
that makes the vessel useful.”

Tao Te Ching quotes

Examples,

If the house does not have emptiness…. you can’t live.

If the cup does not have emptiness…. you can’t drink,in other words if the cup does not have empty space you can not drink. So emptiness simply brings the awareness of what is like ‘ being ‘

“There’s just something obvious about emptiness, even when you try to convince yourself otherwise. ”
Sarah Dessen

“We become aware of the void as we fill it.”   Antonio Porchia

“Form is emptiness, emptiness is form” states the Heart Sutra, one of the best known ancient Buddhist texts. The essence of all things is emptiness.”
 Eckhart Tolle

Any lessons my friend ?

Emptiness also gives us an occasion  to think about God because of our daily life being in hustle & bustle mode ,we often ignore Him.

Emptiness from our ‘daily grind’ due to the ‘Corona Virus’ scare,is the best opportunity to thank of Almighty.

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.  Mother Teresa

Thank you. Namaste  🙏🙏🙏
