What is the cause of monkey mind ?
It is because our ability to think about many things at one time.In other words,it is the constant ,untamed, mind chatter that never stops even during sleep ( dreams ).
It is said that the human mind thinks anywhere between 60000 to 80000 thoughts a day!
And medical research says 80% are negative and 95% are exactly the same repetitive as the day before. Now you can realise how useless these thoughts are !
As Osho says we have two different minds, one that acts and the other that decides, and these two minds never communicate with each other resulting in hundreds and thousands of repetitive thoughts .

Our mind constantly swing between the past and the future.
Our mind giving you a big list of fears some may be true and some imaginary.
You are busy recollecting the past events both happy and not so happy .
Based on this your mind is busy judging the present and continues to be restless. Now your mind starts thinking of the imaginary catastrophic future !
In the process you forget enjoying the ‘ present ‘.
The negative feelings make you anxious, tensed, depressed, restless curtailing your ability to concentrate in a positive way.Now everyday becomes sleepless day !
Can you tame the monkey mind ?
My answer is…..a big NO.
It is impossible to suppress thinking,by thinking more !
Personally I tried all advises like meditation, breathing etc, given by Great Gurus but let me be frank here ,it was a total failure !
So I am totally lost.
I realised that ” Mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master “
