Looks like milleneals are outsmarting the Greek Mythology character Narcissus with their selfie obsession.Who doesn’t admire own face ??
You may even call it ‘Selfiecide”
Twitter has hashtag Killfie
Is this an obscession or passion or ego or attitude or some psychological disorder(OCD)…difficult to pin point.
Two types of Killfies
- Single selfie causing single death.
- Single selfie causing multiple deaths.
Is it just a fad we’re going through with the new availability of digital cameras and camera phones? Or is this here to stay?

This is an interesting phenomena and seems to go hand in hand with people taking the lives of others for absolutely no valid reason here in the U.S. And people killing themselves – even very young teenagers. People are doing all kinds of crazy things here like car chases. I am sure it is the frustrations with governments, and the living via so much technology instead of talking and communicating in other ways as we did when I was young. Language now consists of ROTFL and LOL, etc. instead of real words. So can we be surprised that people are turning back to being like primitive souls? You might want to read the book 1884 by George Orwell if you have not already. Very interesting book. Yes, society is changing everywhere and we are going to see a lot of strange behaviors that make us wonder about the future of human beings in general. Will we revert to an animal-like state? Thank you for this interesting post. I was not aware of this in India, but it is good to know about.

Totally agree Anne Copeland, especially your statement “Yes, society is changing everywhere and we are going to see a lot of strange behaviors that make us wonder about the future of human beings in general”
I always feel humans are strange creatures of God,both funny and dangerous.
These days they have become more and more self destructive than funny.
May be now one has to redline the meaning of ‘pleasure ‘, ‘happiness, or even purpose of life’,in tune with the younger generation.
When we advice, they laugh at us.
I read brief summary of 1984 byGeorge Orwell, and it looks ‘Orwellian’ thoughts are going to prevail.
Thank you for taking your time to enlighten me.
