  1. Eyes record what they see, and if the mouth remains silent and the ears do not reinterpret what they hear, perhaps that would be a sign of progress. We definitely have come a long way from the primitive and perhaps better ways of communicating. Technology has changed our ability to communicate to where if we can’t speak in monosyllables or abbreviations, people can no longer understand us. I used to believe the computer was a good invention, and to some degree the cell phone too. But now it is beginning to look a whole lot like 1984 by George Orwell. Thank you for the good post.

    • Hi Paul, Not exactly. It means that the ears hear what they hear. So if it is gossip and that is what we hear, it is exactly that and not something else. Now our eyes CAN mislead us, for example, if we are watching someone perform magic, and that is because our eyes are not trained to move as fast, and again, to interpret something they see that they have not seen before.
Now our brains CAN distinguish things , and once the ears have heard gossip, for example, the judgement side of our brain steps in and says, “I don’t like it,” or some other alternative.
So when you hear gossip, your brain will decide whether you choose to listen to it or not.
