“Please don’t retouch my wrinkles. It took me so long to earn them” Anna Magnani

untitled (1 of 1)-11

Old age is far more than white hair, wrinkles, the feeling that it’s too late, and the game is finished, that the stage belongs to the rising generations. The true evil is not the weakening of the body, but the indifference of the soul. ‘Andre Maurois’

When do you say A person is ‘Old’ ?

Is there any criterion ? What is your definition of old age ?

Any one is happy/unhappy being referred as ‘Senior citizen’ ?Does criteria differs from country to country?

I don’tย  have ready answers.May be you have an answer. So let me know.My point here is irrespective of the age,why senior people are looked down and not given the respect they deserve?

Also why old people ( I mean who can afford ) are busy dying the hair, undergoing cosmetic surgery etc ? One can always age gracefully ! Daniel Klein ( Travels with Epicurus 2012) advises slowing down, enjoying play and focusing on relationship.

  1. Hi, I found you on First Friday.

What a great title and a great topic. You have picked something here that stands a head above the crowds, and you write in a compelling way that draws the reader into your questions.

Your pictures marry so perfectly with your content. One cannot help but wonder what that old man might be thinking. We all know that look that hangs under his eyes.

The only thing I would change is punctuation. It might be worth leaving a space after full stops and commas. This helps the reader identify the units of a sentence and therefore read more easily. I can also add professionalism to a piece.

I enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing!

  2. My Post Graduation project was titled the same….how is that you touched the same topic I wonder? Yes growing old gracefully is the right way… but the heart and mind can remain as young as it wants…in fact that helps in remaining young at heart always. And leaving the hold of youth is hard on everybody, but the youth being celebrated so much now a days might be one of the reason why letting go of the youthful days becomes difficult.
Thanks to celebrities like George Clooney, Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and more locally people like Ajith Amitabh Bachan, Milind Soman the salt pepper look has become the in thing among the young at 50 crowd. They say every silver hair stands for the experience gained…

      what a coincidence !
      I am surprised equally.
      Some telepathy!
Or is it a fact that We can’t stop the vibe ?
And we are destined to cross our paths .
Strange are the ways The Almighty acts !
Yeah.I agree with you regarding the celebrities.
The celebrities you have mentioned are the best role models.
      Nothing like aging gracefully.
OMG what a mature way you explained that one can remain young as much as one wishes and no need to claim that one is aging etc !
Thanks again for this lovely interpretation .

  3. Ya destined to cross over the path holds true… and the vibe probably is because of some familiarities in the way of thinking too maybe.
I still remember we had a close shot of a beautifully aged lady and across her wrinkled face we had written ” Wrinkles”.
We had immensely enjoyed working among them and the hugs and blessings and kisses we received are still so fresh in memory.
And how much ever our age increases year after year, never let the child in us vanish, and never let the age catch up us in our mind and forever we remain in the best years of our life.
